Don't get ahead of yourself bud. GSP would put an MMA clinic on Shields.

- He's more explosive.

- His striking is better.

- His wrestling is better.

- His Jiu-Jitsu is better. PENN couldn't sub him (and G was probably still learning BJJ - don't give me that "Penn was outta shape blah blah blah BS, cause a guy at BJ's BJJ level doesn't forget how to sub someone, gas or not). He tooled Hughes on the ground like nobody ever has at 79, as well as out-Jitsing Serra (a BJJ instructor!) at UFC 83. C'mon.

- He's much more athletic.

Where exactly would Shields be able to hang with G?

lol @ Shields beating GSP

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

Sheilds combination of freestyle wrestling and BJJ is a great combination. If the guy was bigger he'd make for an interesting challenger for Anderson Silva.

The Goat is no joke, absolute clinic by Jake Sheilds. And no this guy would not beat GSP, his wrestling is good but not good enough. GSP can take this on the feet or lay into him on the mat.

Shields won't beat GSP but Shields has a great guard something GSP hasn't faced very often.

In fact the only great guard GSP has been in was BJ's and if I remember correctly he never passed BJ's guard once.

I think GSP would win but it would be a tougher fight for him IMO than any WW in the UFC. Except maybe Alves who would give him different issues.
