MMA Quick Quote: Kimbo Slice eyes knockout finish in October against … ?

Quote:
“Fighting back at home again, for the second time, is gonna be great. My next opponent, I’m not sure who I’m fighting yet, but I”m looking forward to a hard fight. And this fight I want a KO.”

– Elite XC heavyweight fighter Kimbo Slice talked last night at Elite XC: “Unfinished Business” about his upcoming fight in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., on October 4. This will be Kimbo’s second fight for Elite XC in the “dirty south.” The Miami native knocked out Tank Abbott back in February on the “Street Certified” card, which took place at the Bank United Center in Miami. The interesting thing is that Kimbo’s opponent has not yet been confirmed even though Brett “The Grim” Rogers was believed by most to be that opponent, especially after the post-event fireworks the two had following the May 31 show. Rogers hasn’t been ruled out as Kimbo’s October 4 counterpart, either, but all signs right now appear to point toward a different match up. Perhaps Elite XC believes Rogers is more deserving of a title shot at this point, or maybe they’re just protecting Kimbo. What say you?

so what do you say ?

I think they more of a recognizable name so they can get their ratings back up. There is no question they are protecting Kimbo. Without him EliteXC will fold, bottom line.

Im thinking its going to be someone who has faught in the UFC before. Possibly even Tito Ortiz. Im sure if Tito was offered the right amount of money he would fight just about anyone. He was around at about 225, and Kimbo weighs only ten pounds more than that so its not out of the realm of possiblity. I still wouldnt count out them bringing in Ken Shamrock. Even though hes washed up he is still a name and people would watch. If they bring in a legit opponent like say a Paul Buentello, Kimbo will lose and Gary Shaw knows it.

Tito would destroy Kimbo as well.

Tito isn't a can. If he gets Kimbo on the ground he'll hit harder then Josh Thompson. You better believe that!

No, Elite will get someone with a losing record. Probably Ken Shamrock or Elvis Sinosic. Is Alexander Otsuka or Sam Adkins still in the game? They be perfect as well!

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

Agreed.

I think it will either be Ken Shamrock or Mike Tyson (if an Athletic commission approved him to fight).

Both easy targets IMO and the casual fan would think of it as a huge accomplishment (a la Tank Abbot).

I just thought of another possiblitiy! I can't believe I didn't think of it before but I can actually see EXC setting up Kimbo Slice vs. Wesley "Cabbage" Correira! You don't get any easier then that! This is a guy Tank Abbot could beat!

Holy crap. I didn't even think of that.

As bad as Cabbage sucks, I think he is still good enough to make it look competitive on the feet. He did fight (and get obliterated by) Tim Sylvia, so he's legit, right?

The best answers of heard hear are definetly Cabbage and Shamrock. Two guys who I think Kimbo could walk over.

I cant believe someone said Ortiz. Ortiz would pound the crap out of Kimbo at this point in his career. I will let it slide cuz I dont think JDun got to see how competative Kimbo Vs James Thompson was.

You guy's really think Kimbo would walk through Cabbage?

I think Cabbage would eat Kimbo punches for breakfest and then obliderate him. I know Cabbage is not really the same anymore but this is still the guy that took some of Tim Sylvias and Andrei Arlovskis best shots without getting KOed.
