Shaw And Deluca Resign From Pro Elite

SHAW AND DELUCA RESIGN FROM PRO ELITE
Wednesday, July 30, 2008 - MMAWeekly.com Staff

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According the latest filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission from Pro Elite Inc, Elite XC Live Events President Gary Shaw and Executive Chairman of Pro Elite, Doug DeLuca, have resigned from their positions in the company effective immediately.

Both Shaw and DeLuca will remain on with the company in a consultant’s role that will pay them a salary until the contract ends in 2009.

Gary Shaw had been the public face of Elite XC since its inception, but he has seen a diminished role over the past few months. He had already announced a reduced role in the company due to the constant travel involved, as he is based on the east coast and the Elite XC offices are in California, but that he would still be included in all Elite XC business.

DeLuca is a stranger case with the resignation because even as of last week prior to the second Elite XC/CBS show, he was a part of media conference calls discussing the show, but now it appears he has left the company and his previous role.

Shaw and his company, Gary Shaw Productions, as well as DeLuca will be kept on as consultants through Sept. 30, 2009 while collecting a salary from Pro Elite as well.

No word has come from Pro Elite or Elite XC as to who will lead the company now that both of the most prominent public figures have stepped down. MMAWeekly.con did receive an interview with Elite XC Vice President, Jared Shaw, on Tuesday who is still working at the Elite XC offices in his role as matchmaker and executive.

Is this good or bad for EliteXC?

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

This can hopefully only mean good things for Elite XC. And once they start to establish some more stars on their roster they will be able to feed Kimbo to a decent heavyweight who won't have Shaw to back him up any more

i like the poll. it is a good or bad thing, i agree. haha

beat me to this post... awesome news. great for EXC imo... but it also goes to show that what White was saying about CBS/networks wanting full control over the org for a contract.

A+ news, i just hope CBS hangs in there even with the poor ratings on the last broadcast.

Sorry, I've been up since 5:30 this morning and mind is still struggling to wake up. Yes does mean that its good that Shaw resigned.

One question! Why AFFLICTION? There HW division is solid so it would make sense for somebody like Antonio Silva to go there. But what is Cung Le, Robber Lawler, Ninja Rua, and the rest going to do there.

Simply cuz i hate Elite XC and the more solid fighter that a division may have in Affliction I think they would always put on great match-ups...I remember when Dana used to have 6 fights on a PPV and at least 4 of those fights were top tier guys(the kind of guys that could headline a UFC ppv today) and now Dana gives us one or maybe two great fights and then a bunch of mediocre fights on the ppv's, I felt like the Affliction Promotion would take all those great fighters from XC and Affliction and continuosly fill the cards with like 5 out of 6 fights being top rated guys vs. top rated guys.....thats really the ony reason, but I voted yes because its good Shaw is gone....
