Alvarez is a better striker than Thomson, and a better wrestler IMO. Now I think Thomson might have a better submission game but it's close.
Alvarez was able to stand and bang with Dida and did a solid job unlike most.
Eddie would trash Josh.

Alvarez is a better striker than Thomson

No, Thomson is the much more technical striker. Nice defense, good leg-kicks, nice combinations, good head movement. He's a better striker.
Also, I feel Eddie Alvarez is being severely overrated here. Alvarez is a good fighter, but he smoked a striker with a shitty ground game, Hansen (Nice win) and Kawajiri (Nice win, but Kawajiri fought a stupid fight). Now, all of a sudden, he trashes Josh Thomson? Are you serious?
Thomson's the better technical striker, he's better on the ground and he has solid wrestling. I'd be more than happy to sig bet if this fight ever takes place.

You forgot to mention the Dida fight. Alvarez looked great in that fight. 3 notable victories in a row. If anything Alvarez has been seriously flying under the radar.
His striking is no less technical than Thompsons. He's not a crazy swinger he can pick his shots and counter strike also.
And his ground game is top notch.

There is no way Thomson is a better striker than Alvarez. I think their wrestling is about even. Thompson has the advantage in the submission game. I don't think that Thomson has the chance to take down Alvarez. I think it will be an early KO for Alvarez.

Just when you thought Elite XC couldn't go any lower, Ken Shamrock gets out of his wheel chair to fight his brother. Maybe Jerry Springer could do the announcing and Steve could be the referee.

Thomson the better striker then Alvarez? I don't know about that. Alvarez has got some serious power for 155(something not a lot of guys have) and is quite technical, calculating and fast with his strikes. Thomson is more of a wrestler who sets up his take downs with strikes IMO. It would be a great fight I think, and it would be hard to call. But I think Alvarez would beat Thomson on the feet. Who would win the fight? Tough call.
