Andre Galvao makes MMA debut

http://sherdog.com/news/articles/gal...ma-debut-14238

I will look for a video bt there doesn't seem to be one yet.

This card was actually pretty solid.

But the big news is Galvao debut and can actually strike.

He also fought a pretty solid fighter in Jeremiah Metcalf.

I hadn't heard he was about to make his debut but for those of you who don't know about Galvao he's a great BJJ guy who finished 3rd in ADCC Absolute divison in 07.

For those of you who don't know why he's awesome here is a video of him at Mundials this year.

Interesting, I knew Drysdale was debuting sometime at the end of this year, but I didn't know Galvao was going to before him.

The funniest thing about the video in your link is the comments, someone under the username "Joe Rogan" is calling out Galvao haha.

Yea honestly all the top BJJ guys are debuting in MMA soon.

Galvao obviously just did.

Drysdale is supposed to debut in October and Xande Ribeiro is debuting at Sengoku 5.

The number of top BJJ guys in MMA is about to rise.

Then you got Marcelo and Roger both early in their careers.

That video from Mundials was ridiculous. His opponent will need years of therapy.

And Galvao beat Werdum in the ADCC Absolute? Impressive.

Hope he does well in MMA. He is definitely one to watch for.

My milkshake brings all the girls to the barn.

MOO!

Galvao is one of the top five jiu-jitsu fighters in the world, pound-for-pound, and so to see him do well in his MMA debut is great.

On top of that, he has a very exciting ground game and one that translates really well to MMA.

I'm looking forward to watching him smash some guys in the future.

Yea browncow he won his weightclass in the black belt divison of Mundials in both 05 and 08. In 06 and 07 he came in 2nd place.

He also made the semifinals of the Absolute divison this year.

The guys only 25 he turns 26 next month.

If I had known he was gonna make his MMA debut he defiantly would've been in my next gen sig.

Galvao is a monster.

Edit - Yea Ironman Galvao unlike some other guys in BJJ is really fun to watch the guy is an exicting grappler and that translates well to MMA.

I actually saw that match a while back on subfighter, shear ownage, that kind of stuff should be outlawed, he used his opponant as a B-Boy mat.

I'll try and find his fight, but as you say, he has good striking, and his BJJ looks like it would make it easy for him to excell in MMA, he's very good at passing, and he seems relentless. Unlike many other BJJ guys who think they're still in ADCC and don't bring the tenacity to the cage.

Hey anyone else think Wanderlei could put together a beast team.

Galvao is his BJJ coach and loves Wandy.

Maia swears by Wandy.

So a team of Wandy, Galvao, and Maia. That would be amazing.

Hopefully they don't go the Chute Boxe route (as great as it was) and start thinking that their striking is a gift from God. And I hope these guys actually teach something to Wandy, that he'll utilize.

Well since they are training out of Xtreme Couture I doubt they will ahve that problem.

And yea that Chute Boxe issue hopefully doesn't move on to these guys.

Because Werdum and Shogun have shown how successful guys from Chute Boxe can be when they get guys down.

Only Former Chute Boxe guy that needs to avoid the ground is obviously Dida because he doesn't know what BJJ is.
