Fighting more often

These days it seems a fighter fights so little. Gomi fought 5 times in 04 and 5 more in 05, now that is awesome.

Didn't Barnett fight 8 times in one year?

Those were the good days.

How about Arona? Guy fights once in 06, once in 07 and has completely vanished. What the hell?

I think fighters don't fight quite often enough. I realize it is tough on them but they should be able to do 3 times a year minimum. For example, the UFC has 12 cards a year and 5 divisions. If every guy defends his title 3 times a year then every single card should have a title fight and some would have two. I think that is a reasonable expectation.
