I don't think that's the case.
They have moneymakers in Slice and Carano. If they wanted to guage prospects at all, they would at least promote the event to get the highest ratings they could.
If those buttholes didn't make the first show SOOOOO terrible CBS may have given them a chance.
All I can figure at this point is they want to wash their hands of the MMA business. Whether it be for political reasons, financial reasons, or for personal reasons.
Some people still see this sport as too brutal, the majority of US casual fans are idiots and a**holes... Maybe after they got a taste of all that they've decided to shut it down.
