The expression on Sylvia's face right before the fight started says it all, he looked scared as hell, and got molested.
Also, you have to be crazy to not consider Sylvia top 5/10. Dude has a much more impressive career than Mir, and was well feared for a very long time.

He has the same right to talk shit as Tito, Ken, Nick Diaz, Hughes, Serra, Karo, Chuck, Rashad, Lesnar etc. That what fighters do, they talk shit about other fighters to promote a fight, some are good at it others aren't.
Sylvia had big wins over Monson, Ricco Rodriguez(when he was good), Vera, Gan Mcgee, Ben Rothwell, Jason Lambert, Mike Whitehead, Assuerio Silva, Tre Telligman. Those are all quality fighters.

When it comes to rankings, you need Sylvia in there.
Although...
I actually don't think he is one of the best 10 Heavyweights in the world.
If I ranked a Top 10 heavyweight division on who I thought were the best fighters, and not on results, Sylvia would not be in there.
There are ALOT of guys who I would pick Sylvia to lose against, Fedor, Nog, Couture we have seen. I don't think Cro Cop would have a problem kicking him in the head, even if he is worse. Sylvia just overrates his standup way too much. I wonder if he still does. Josh Barnett would get him to the floor, and tool him from there. Arlovski is about which one turns up.
Werdum gets him down with a trip and subs him with EASE. He won't get knocked out before hand. People go on about Sylvia's KO power and he can end it so easily, but he actually hasn't KO'd anyone since Arlovski.
Aleksander Emelianenko has much better hands/speed/movement than Tim, Tim's movement is just plain crap.
Gonzaga could leg kick him a bit, and sub him. Tim has better hands than Gabe, and also better cardio, those are the ways Gonzaga loses this, but I still don't think he does.
Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar would both make Sylvia look like garbage.
Cheick Kongo, Jerome LeBanner and Alistair Overeem could all outstrike Tim.
I'm no Tim Sylvia hater, i'm just pointing out that he isn't one of the best Heavyweights in the world. In a rankings based on a results system, he is definitely in there, he has nice wins over Arlovski, Vera, Monson and Ricco.
I think Frank Mir's was the most impressive. The reason Fedor wasn't, is because I KNEW (unless of a freak accident) that was going to happen. It was the most obvious thing in the world. People picking Tim because he could "keep Fedor at bay with a jab" LOL. So yeah, I didn't get impressed by Fedor, because it was the obvious result. Frank Mir wasn't.
EDIT:

Robb are you serious? They are all quality fighters??
I'm not even sure that Jason Lambert or Mike Whitehead are quality fighters now, nevermind in 2002.
Ben Rothwell was definitely not a quality fighter in 2001, so these are irrelivant.
Tra Telligman also wasn't quality in 2005. Compaired to others, earlier on in his career he could be considered a "quality fighter". CERTAINLY not in 2005.

25 finishes out of 32 fights, 5 straight finishes in the UFC, ADCC champion = not dominating?
You have some high standards my friend.

Saying Ricco Rodriguez at one time wasnt a top guy is ridiculous, before it all fell apart Ricco was considered one if not the top Hw in the world, he may be a second tier fighter now but dont fool yourself he wasnt always the fighter he is today.
