EliteXC Continues To Sign New Prospects.

Quote:
FiveOuncesOfPain.com has confirmed through multiple sources that EliteXC has signed Jason Volpe and Nick Denis to contracts.

Denis, a native of Ottawa, Ontario, possesses an unblemished mixed martial arts record of 6-0. Denis currently trains at Ronin MMA and holds victories over the likes of Josh Kyrejto, Josh Gallant, and Chris Myra.

Jason “The Hitman” Volpe possesses a mixed martial arts record of 4-1. Volpe holds victories over the likes of Aaron Barnard, Dave Logan, Dustin Dickerson, and Lino Santoro. Volpe’s sole professional loss came to the hands of Jarid Bussemakers at KOTC: Brawl at the Mall 3.

FiveOuncesOfPain.com has learned that King of the Cage Canada heavyweight champion Tim Hague has signed a one-year contract with EliteXC. No date or opponent has been announced for Hague’s debut.

Hague, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, possesses a mixed martial arts record of 8-1. Hague holds victories over notable names such as UFC veteran Sherman Pendergarst, Ruben Villareal and Jared Kilkenny. Hague’s sole professional loss came via split decision to Miodrag Petkovic at HCF: Destiny.
Quote:
Hague and Petkovic are currently slated to rematch at Raw Combat: Resurrection on October 25, 2008 at the Calgary Corral. Also featured on the card is a middleweight bout between Denis Kang and Marvin Eastman.

That's three more fighters after Jason Guida and Coenen in the past week. For a buisness that is supposed to be going out of buisness in the next year, they seem to be gearing up to put some cards together.

If they are in fact in financial trouble this wouldn't look like a lucrative move.

I for one am interested to see where they are going with there organization.

Why would you sign with an organization that could go out of business before you get to fight?

I bet if EliteXC falls into too much financial trouble they'll be bought before they go out of buisness.

Showtime already holds shares and is working on getting first dibs. I'm thinkin we'll be seein the EXC banner for a while longer.

Why would Showtime buy a failing company? The ratings for Show XC have not been good. Showtime gets better ratings on original series and movies. I wouldn't be surprised if Affliction tried to buy the rights to their fighters. It all depends on if the Elite XC over values their company.

Showtime has already expressed interest in having first takes if EliteXC goes up for sale.

It doesn't matter why. They want to buy it, they seem to think that they can make it work.

EXC has a good roster and it's growing into a great one. Combine that with the fact that they are willing to cross-promote and you've got a hell of a product!

The only reason they are in trouble now is people like Gary Shaw that don't have a clue on how to run an MMA org. Freaking pole dancers and 15 minute walks to the cage almost killed EXC at the first CBS event.

I agree that the company was poorly managed. The promoted from the bottom up with Kimbo and some others. However they need depth in all of their divisions. Their heavyweight and LHW divisions are nonexistant. They have some good champions at middleweight and welterweight, but no quality challengers. They do have some talent at 155. The bottom line is other than Lawler, Shields, Alvarez, Diaz, Carano, and the circus that is Kimbo what do they have? A bunch of of guys who would probably be on the non-televised fights in the UFC. I know they have to start somewhere, but I don't for see Showtime making much money with them.

This is where I don't agree. There is more depth than you claim. Fighters like......Rafael Feijao, Fabricio Camoes, Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva, Conner Huen, Paul Daley, Mark Oshiro, Murillo "Ninja" Rua, Nick Thompson, and Cyrille "The Snake" Diabate not to mention Shane Del Rosario or Suganuma could hold their own in any other org at their respective weight classes. On the televised card.

Before this CBS deal, EliteXC was exclusive to Showtime. How soon you've forgotten. It did so well that they wanted more events, this is how ShoXC was born. EliteXC fighters in a Showtime event.

I'll give you Nick Thompson. Silva is out for at least a year for steroids. Feijao, Camoes, Heun, Oshiro, and Diabate would be nontelevised or prelim fighters at best in the UFC or Affliction. Derosario is good, but is definitely a few years away from being top level. I'm not as convinced about Suganuma, but at the very least he's years away as well. Daley is overrated and will get exposed by anyone with a ground game. As far as Ninja Rua, he's probably one of the most overrated fighters in history. Anytime he's stepped up in class, he's lost. The company is simply weak as far as talent.
