Frank Shamrock was offered to fight Kimbo?

In the scramble to find a suitable replacement that Slice couldn’t possibly lose to, EliteXC considered Shamrock’s brother, Frank, who was there to be CBS’s color commentator, hadn’t fought lately due to a broken arm and would have given up around 45 pounds. Despite all this, Frank likely would have submitted Kimbo in the first round.

When that matchup couldn’t happen (EliteXC said state officials wouldn’t clear him, Frank said they did but CBS blocked it), EliteXC promoters turned to Petruzelli.

How crazy would that be, if the other Shamrock came out of the broadcast booth and fought Kimbo on a few hours notice? Losing to Frank would have been much less humiliating than losing to than a nobody. I'm surprised EXC didn't also tap Bas Rutten to fight Frank last night, seems like they were just asking any MMA fighters in the house to fight. I would have liked to see that actually over what we got. BTW, I think Bas or Frank would have fared better against Seth than Kimbo did last night.

PS:
I think Frank is lying when he said state officials approved him to fight Kimbo and CBS blocked it. Unlike Japan, fights between guys in different weight classes are forbidden under the sanctioned MMA rules which EXC adheres to. That's why they said Seth was 205 1/2 pounds and not 205.

They wouldn't have let Frank fight because it would be lose/lose. Their biggest star against their second biggest star with only a few hours to hype it up. No point. There's a video of Franks post-event interview on http://www.mmascraps.com/

I think Frank could easily step on the scales yesterday at 205 1/2, seriously he isnt cutting for a fight even coming up Frank probably walks around on a normal day at at least 210, probably closer to 200 when preparing for a fight and then down to 185 by fight day, hell he probably walks into the age at close to 200.

no, moron. they are not forbidden. only in title matches is it an absolute requirement. if you dont make the required weight for a title match, you can still fight in the match... just not for the title. also, they listed seth at 205.5 because that is what he weighed! you are allowed to go one lb. over on the weigh in. dude...check yourself.

when I first heard that ken was pulled out I was hoping that frank would step up and submit him. I knew it would never happen but It was wishful thinking

I don't think Frank can fight with the braces can he? I remember him saying he got them because he knew his arm injury would keep him sidelined for awhile.

And yea Frank would submit Kimbo no question.

Are we talking about Seth Petrezelli as a nobody? A guy who has had more pro fights than Kimbo, and who also had a contract with the UFC? Thats the same UFC that is the largest MMA organisation in the world. . .
