Here's my take on all of this. The only winners in this whole thing is Kimbo and Seth Petruzelli. Kimbo because he just got paid a ton of money to take some shots on the chin. Seth because he's in line to make alot more money for beating EliteXC's poster boy. BUT, I think that overall alot of people will lose big for this whole Kimbo/MMA debacle. First, EliteXC is going to lose on this. Kimbo was their saving grace, and he's been exposed as a complete farce. He isn't, and never was going to be a legit MMA fighter. I don't think that Seth Petruzelli is a big enough name to carry their organization. Secondly, I think that CBS is losing out on this. I think that it might be quite a while before they can put any sports on air and be taken seriously. Any sports that they try to put on TV will be considered suspect when this is all over. Lastly, I think that the entire sport of MMA will hurt from this. Maybe not in a big way, but to casual fans, I think a little. How many millions of people saw that sad excuse for MMA because it was on free TV and they heard that internet sensation Kimbo Slice was fighting? MMA in general probably lost more than a handful of casual fans that could have eventually been real fans that bought PPV cards because they like to watch it. I think that this whole thing is sad. I hope that EliteXC goes out of business in the not too distant future. This dog and pony show needs to stop. Gary Shaw is the grinch that is trying to steal MMA's legitimacy.
