It was pretty epic stuff, the kind of fight that defines Nogueira. Mirko was a killer back then and Nogueira took his best. Kind of funny that Nogueira gets stuffed on every shot until he sets it up with a little combination.
1. Frank Shamrock vs Tito ortiz (UFC 22).
2. Frye vs Takayama (Pride: Demolition).
3. Shamrock vs Horn (UFC 17).
4. Silva vs Rampage 2 (High Octane).
5. Hughes vs Trigg 2 (UFC 52).
6. Rutten vs Funaki 2.
7. Shamrock vs Inoue.
8. Sakuraba vs Renzo Gracie.
9. Sakuraba vs Newton.
10. Newton vs Pele.
11. Telligman vs Rizzo 2.
12. Sapp vs Nogueira (Not as emotional, but I did like it more).
13. Couture vs Ricco Rodriguez.
14. Couture vs Rizzo 1.
15. Nogueira vs Mirko.
16. Silva vs Yoshida 1.
17. Ninja vs Sperry.
18. Gomi vs Pulver.
19. Silva vs Rampage 1.
20. Mezger vs Liddell.

Good list man. Here is my top 5 tell me what you think.

1.Gomi vs Diaz- Crazy fight, total slugfest where the underdog wins. The excitement in the arena gave me chills. Gomi comes and domiante Diaz for the first half of the round then Diaz unleeshes target practice on Gomi's grill. Round closes to a standing ovation. 2nd round, unranked Diaz busts out a gogoplata on the worlds #1 LW. What a fight.

2.Hughes vs Trigg 2- I hate Hughes and love Trigg so this fight was sweet for awhile. It had a little bit of everything but yet it was short, so there was never a dull moment. Trigg getting choked out again was quit funny even for Twinkle Toes fan.

3.Shogun vs Rogerio- This fight was AWESOME!! Probably one of the most even matchups ever. Both guys get knockdowns, and was a back and fourth battle the whole. The pace of this fight was incredible and never had a dull moment. Id love to see a rematch.

4.Diego vs Karo- Another fast pace fight that had a little of everything. Judo throws, blood, teeth being knocked out, and back and fourth action. I havent seen this in awhile. Id like to see it again.

5.Fedor vs Fujita- Could have been one of the biggest upsets ever. Fedor shows his greatness and chokes out Fujita. Everytime I watch this fight I get chills.

Gomi vs Diaz was fun, but honestly, I don't even have it in my top 50. Nice, little fight, but Gomi, man, dude, what the hell? This could've been great had Gomi actually trained. I'm convinced he trained maybe a day for this fight, and only did this because he got a free ticket to Vegas, where he partied his ass off, probably took home a couple of strippers and licked tequilla off their butt cheeks.

Hughes vs Trigg 2 was excellent. Good choice. Hughes slamming Trigg and the crowd going apeshit is one of the coolest moments in MMA history. This is the fight that made Hughes a legend. No doubt about it.

Shogun vs Rogerio was my FOTY for 2005. Great fight, but I think I like Ninja vs Sperry a tad more due to Mario being an asskicking old guy, but Rogerio vs Shogun was more competitive. You watch this fight and wonder just what in the hell happened to Shogun.

Diego vs Karo was my FOTY for 06. Great fight, with 2 competitive rounds and a third round that was clearly Diego's. You could've scored it either 29-28 for Karo or 29-28 for Diego. I believe one judge had it 30-26 for Diego, which was mindblowingly stupid. I had it 29-28 for Sanchez. Karo busted out a ton of dope shit in this fight, as did Sanchez. That knee, man.

Fedor vs Fujita is my favorite Fedor fight, and pretty much the only competitive fight he's been in (Under real MMA rules, not Rings rules). Fedor does the fishy fish dance and then goes on to choke out Fujita brutally. Nasty body kick by Fedor in this fight. That kick wilted Fujita.

Not a bad list. I'd only have Trigg vs Hughes in my top 5. I'd like to see your top 10.

Oh, and damn me for fogetting Uno vs Sato 1. Thats top 10 stuff.

I'm curious, jdun11, where do fights like Penn vs Uno 2, Penn vs Gomi (Which was a one-sided smashing) and Belfort vs Ortiz rank?

Yeah, Karo gassed real bad in the last round. It was just Diego pounding on him for a solid 3 minutes. But yeah, 30-26 to Diego was a joke.

This is probably my favorite Nog fight(that he wins). He takes a beating in this fight and pulls off a really cool arm bar to make Mirko tap. Really impressive performance by Nogueira. As far as all time fights it's probably in my top 20 or 25.

The emotion is sick.

When Nog pulls the armbar off, his reaction is incredible.

Beautiful fight.

I would find it seriously hard to rank fights like that, but I might give it a go.

It will probably take me ages to decide which fight goes above which.

I really liked that fight, but I don't know, it'd probably be number 25 or so. Maybe I hate seeing Nog lose. Incredibly close fight, but Barnett had the knockdown, guillotine and kneebar. Barnett looked the best he's ever looked.
