Gomi vs Diaz was fun, but honestly, I don't even have it in my top 50. Nice, little fight, but Gomi, man, dude, what the hell? This could've been great had Gomi actually trained. I'm convinced he trained maybe a day for this fight, and only did this because he got a free ticket to Vegas, where he partied his ass off, probably took home a couple of strippers and licked tequilla off their butt cheeks.
Hughes vs Trigg 2 was excellent. Good choice. Hughes slamming Trigg and the crowd going apeshit is one of the coolest moments in MMA history. This is the fight that made Hughes a legend. No doubt about it.
Shogun vs Rogerio was my FOTY for 2005. Great fight, but I think I like Ninja vs Sperry a tad more due to Mario being an asskicking old guy, but Rogerio vs Shogun was more competitive. You watch this fight and wonder just what in the hell happened to Shogun.
Diego vs Karo was my FOTY for 06. Great fight, with 2 competitive rounds and a third round that was clearly Diego's. You could've scored it either 29-28 for Karo or 29-28 for Diego. I believe one judge had it 30-26 for Diego, which was mindblowingly stupid. I had it 29-28 for Sanchez. Karo busted out a ton of dope shit in this fight, as did Sanchez. That knee, man.
Fedor vs Fujita is my favorite Fedor fight, and pretty much the only competitive fight he's been in (Under real MMA rules, not Rings rules). Fedor does the fishy fish dance and then goes on to choke out Fujita brutally. Nasty body kick by Fedor in this fight. That kick wilted Fujita.
Not a bad list. I'd only have Trigg vs Hughes in my top 5. I'd like to see your top 10.
Oh, and damn me for fogetting Uno vs Sato 1. Thats top 10 stuff.
I'm curious, jdun11, where do fights like Penn vs Uno 2, Penn vs Gomi (Which was a one-sided smashing) and Belfort vs Ortiz rank?
