NBA/NFL/...etc athletes in MMA.
Just a question for you guys.
Which current athletes in other major sports in the US would you think would do really well in MMA. Now im not saying that we just through a football/basketball/hockey fresh into MMA and see how they do.
Imagine that they have been training MMA instead of their respected sports their whole lives, and with the same dedication and physical prowess would be transferred into their MMA skills. Who do you think would do the best.
My opinion it would be LeBron James. Guy's 6'8", 250 pounds, and just an amazing athlete. Would fit perfectly into the heavyweight division and I can see him dominating that division.
Now who do you guys think would do really really well in MMA if they had been training for MMA instead of their own sports based upon their skills in their sports.

i would think the hockey players are most likley, think back to like Marty McSorly, Bob Probert, Ulf Samulson, Chris Chelios.... names go one, the ones that took some huge damage, got into fights and never missed a game. Hell Chris Chelios tore his ACL (I think, mighta been MCL) early one season, said nothing, lead the Blackhawks in points, minutes, assists and i wanna say +/- for the season, then made mention of it and then had surgery.
hockey players are a different breed... part psycho.. just like fighters! what other sport outside of fighting do you see guys get huge gashes, lose teeth, break jaws and not only keep going but tell people to eff off they still going!!
Hockey players about the only ones that i think could handle it.

Yao Ming's reach advantage will probably do the trick.

Well based on just sheer toughness, I also have to bring up professional rugby players. Those bastards are tough as hell.

What would Lebron dominate the HW division with? Crossovers and shitty commercials?

Well, if Lebron had been practicing MMA for his whole life instead of basketball, he probably would have. That is what my question is. What athletes in other sports would do really well in MMA had they been training MMA their whole life's instead of the sport they are in right now.

im a big basketball guy, i play college basketball. lebron james was was named national highschool b-ball player of the year for 3 straight years, he was also the top highschool football player for his last 2 years of highschool, he is an athletic freak. if he had dedicated his whole life to martial arts im sure he could have done great. But in general i dont see nba players doing well, we are to lanky in most parts, in someways it could help, but in others not so much, will we ever see it? never know
