MMA Haters?

I spent today dealing with a podcast and afterward Curtis Clontz told me about this hysterical blog posting. Upon reading the posting, I had to write a something in response.

I hope you guys will read it. I think it's some of my best work, like ever (or at least in recent memory).

Still, I'm trying to get people's thoughts on haters. How often do you guys deal with them? What do they say? How do you handle it?

Ironman, I love all your pieces and this is no exception, a great write up.

Dealing with haters these days has become few and far between. The ones that do hate have no knowledge of the sport so taken there opinion into consideration is something I dont do anymore as it pisses me off to no end.

Its educating the casual mma fans and molding them that has become the task for me now, which im happy to do as they show interest.

Yeah, this is true. This result has even happened on this site, as we've seen the number of idiotic trolls drop off a little bit (there are a few, but most people are much better).

Glad you guys liked this. I'll post more of them in here for you guys, but if you check out the website regularly, I have stuff up most of the time.

Before I read the article I'll say, I rarely run into people who watch MMA or know of it to any detail but in the occasions I do they usually comment on how violent it is. Not in a necessarily, this is terrible it needs to be banned context, but with a certain resentment towards it. I don't usually look down on it though because with little involvement in the sport it does appear at first glance to be a blood sport.

Hey Ironman, I personally dont deal with a lot of haters if any.
I actually dont surround myself with people who have really strong opinions about the fight game.
The last 3 people who Ive introduced to MMA (all women in their mid-late 20's) actually enjoy it. They love the 'story-lines' the love the 'characters' and they actually truly enjoy the technical aspect of the fights.
If someone were to watch it with me, and have an open mind about the sport, its hard to imagine them not liking it.
I dont know if that's because of the people I hang out/surround myself with, or because MMA really is amazing to watch.
Maybe its a bit of both.

I agree that it's possible to misunderstand the sport, but anyone who creates strong opinions at first glance needs to reevaluate the way they see the world.

Man, I wish I met more women in their mid-to-late 20s that were in to MMA.

I don't know anyone who would disagree. Boxing is entirely one sided, everyone should respect the amount of training it takes to learn more than one style.

Great read! Kathleen had no business writing an article on something she knows so little about.

Thanks for that. I was pretty frustrated with her, so I'm glad I could get a laugh out of it.

But no more leg kicks for me. Not after watching Corey Hill.
