Next Generation of MMA BJJ/Wrestling prospects

Ok I don't feel like doing a long post with a ton of videos that won't get seen so I'm going to write a little bit about all these guys and if you want videos just request them.

BJJ
Robert Drysdale
2007 ADCC Absolute division champion
Amateur record - 1-0
Weightclass - 205

Robert has very interesting BJJ it's very exciting and different.

He trains with Wanderlei, and Forrest everyday so that can't hurt at all he's debuting Friday the 26th and wants to fight one more time before he starts training for ADCC 2009. And after ADCC he says he will focus 100% on MMA.

Xande Ribeiro
7x time Black belt BJJ champion
Pro record 1-0
Weightclass - 205

Probably the best BJJ guy with a GI on in the world and his no-gi game isn't bad at all.

He won his debut without having to use submissions which is very good he won it with his punches and knees.

Training with Diego means he should improve because Diego is very smart.

Andre Galvao
FSC champion
Pro record - 2-0
weightclass - 170

Already winning a championship and beating 2 fighters who are legit.

His grappling is really fun watch this video http://www.cagepotato.com/2008/06/10...-jitsu-pwnage/

Andre is Wandy's personal BJJ coach and he has shown a good chin and solid stand up in his first two fights.

He should be in a big time promotion by mid 09

Wrestling
Phil Davis
2008 NCAA champion
Pro record - 1-0
Amateur record - 3-0
weightclass - 185

Training in PA in some gym I've never heard of is probably not a good thing but he has shown skills in his striking and BJJ.

Team Takedown wants to sign him which means a move to Xtreme Couture could be on the way but this guy is physically impressive and has a very bright future he reminds of a bigger version of Koscheck.

Ben Askren
2x NCAA Champion and 2008 Olympian
Weightclass - 170

Hasn't made his pro debut yet but his top control is legit has the 4th most pins in the history of the NCAA.

Training at ATT should be great for him his BJJ should improve a ton.

Making his debut in February and having another fight later in that month he could be one of the most sought after free agents in March.

I say Askren and Galvao has the most potential here IMO. Maybe Drysdale too, we'll have to w8 and see.

I think Galvao is going to do great however I would say the guy with the most potential is Phil Davis.

He's just a physical monster at 185 and he has looked skilled standing even though he trains at a gym I've never heard of.

All the guys on here have the potential to be great though no doubt.

Xande won't probably be all that committed to MMA and back off.

Askren and Drysdale have such great training partners they should both be legit threats in MMA.

Not that I do research on. But I'm sure striking prospects are out there as well.

Xandle becauase he has shown he doesn't necessarily want to finish with BJJ which will make him a real threat.

Askren too because he has that wrestling and a BJJ purple belt, it's scary.

Forum Bets: 2-0

No Marcelo Garcia? He has better No-gi bjj than everyone you mentioned, and is also training full time at ATT. I don't think Drysdale or Riberio will do anything in the MMA world.

Mentioned Marcelo last time that's why he's not on it.

Plus I'm not sure what's going on with Marcelo he hasn't fought in awhile.

Askren has a BJJ purple belt? He could become very scary! Also, Galvao looked solid against a no-joke opponent and he is so good on the ground that any improvement in wrestling and/or striking to complete the grappling will just make him devastating!

I have Galvao as the top prospect, tbh since he looked so good in his first fight (and trains with many good people including da WAND).
