How long until mma gets equal respect?

I was just watching the SNL sports special. They had a bunch of famous pro athletes that had hosted. How long do you think it will be before a mma star is famous enough to host. Or maybe how long until a mma star wins an espy or could be considered for athlete of the year by the mainstream media?

A lot of people, without even watching or knowing about the sport, consider it to be too violent, and it doesn't get as much views as it should. That's probably the biggest problem with the growth of the sport...it doesn't help that the president of one of the biggest mma promotions (UFC) talks like a teenage rebel.

Hopefully soon. I can already picture a bunch of MMA fighters hosting SNL though... Griffin, Bas, Baroni, Evans, etc.

I can see Bas definitely...idk about Evans tho, he looks like he would say something stupid on tv...Kanye West style.

Georges St. Pierre was already nominated for an ESPY.

Yeah I know. I voted for him. However they always give fighter of the year to a boxer. This year it will probably be Pacquaiao. I know it has to do with a lot of people not respecting the sport that guys don't get the votes. Also they never hand out fighter of the year on air at the ESPYs anymore.

I think it has less to fighters not being respected and more to do with MMA not being fully mainstream yet.

Yep, a lot of people still view it as human cockfighting. Just because we're sick enough to enjoy watching 2 dudes punch each other in the face and roll around with each other, doesn't mean most of the world is.

It's either a. bloody, b. boring or c. both.
