EliteXC Loses Hector Lombard

Quote:
Bellator Fighting Championships is the first MMA organization to secure a TV deal with any member of the ESPN family of networks.

Beginning in April, Bellator will showcase their MMA fighters in a tournament format. The best will fight the best each week to determine who rises to the top and becomes Champion, and who collects the largest purses. And all of this will be available on free TV through ESPN Deportes.

Bellator has announced they signed American Top Team’s Hector Lombard, a former Olympic Judo competitor and Cuban national champion, to an exclusive fight contract. At 185 pounds, Hector has amassed a highly respectable record of 17-2-1 with his only losses coming by way of decision to Akihiro Gono and Gegard Mousasi in the PRIDE organization.

This is a huge loss talent wise. Hector "Shango" Lombard is a beast and is no doubt regognized on the MMA scene.

He was first courted by the UFC and apparently almost signed but his visa issues stopped the deal from being finalized.

EliteXC signed him and after a painful wait he was ready to compete state side. His first fight had him matched up against Scott Smith on the November 9th card which was subsequently cancelled.

In a twist of events he has now reportedly been signed exclusivly by Bellator Fighting Championships.

Lombard is a great talent, and addition to any roster.

If you haven't seen any Hector "Shango" Lombard action......

It sucks, but EliteXC has bigger problems I think.

I'm not sure if it's exclusive because I thought I had heard Lombard was fighting for PFC in Cali.

I heard the same but it may just be on loan from Bellator. But either way I hope Bellator gets some good fighters to compete in their tourney. I know they were also rumored to get Filho.

Very, very badass. Any fight with Lombard would be badass.
