fedor who?

I was thinking guys. Lets look at the big names in MMA

Matt hughes
Ken shamrock
Frank shamrock
Chuck Liddell
Randy Couture

these were all men who were at one time as the most dominate fighter of all time and seemed unbeatable. If you look at their highlight reals on youtube you would wonder how they ever lost (especially the shamrocks).

in the early days everyone thought the shamrock bros were invisible.

then Matt hughes was to be the most dominate welterweight of all time.

then wen chuck won the belt people thought that he will be the best ever.

when rand took out Gabe everyone thought he was the best ever.

after Anderson's last 2 performances I can see it starting to happen to him

I have a feeling the same will happen to fedor and the bulk of the fans will just move on and people will stop remembering him for what he was like they do everyone else.
what do you think?

You're wrong about Randy. He was never a guy who seemed unbeatable or dominant. He was the old underdog that everyone wanted to see if he could still pull it off. 8 times he was not able to. Hardly the picture you try to paint.

I do wonder that if someone goes out and drops Fedor, how many casual fans will immediately ditch him. Shouldn't happen, if he loses it will not tarnish the fact that he has dropped 6 former UFC champions, and beaten a lot of great fighters, most of who were in their prime.

yha I was kind reluctant to put randy on there. He did have a big band wagon though that everyone just seemed to jump off after the brock fight

Fedor is a small hw, who relied a lot on toughness and power in his last fight v AA. When his body can't keep up anymore - he will disappear from the radar fast. While his submissions and heart are awesome - he is just really small for hw. With a new division he could be around for a long time - but as things stand, he is relying on physical tools that won't last forever.

If A.Silva stays cautious, he could be around for a very long time though.

I see someone has been drinking the kool aid.

None of those fighters were ever seen as unbeatable at any point of their careers. Ill give you maybe the thought that Chuck and Matt Hughes were but that had a lot to do with the fact that they were fed guys who matched up very well with them at the time. Call it a case of a promoter who knew how to make his top fighters look very good.

Fedor on the other hand was a nobody who was basically thrown into the fray to build up Semmy Schilts, Heath Herring and then Big Nog's name, but ended up crushing all of them. No one sees him as unbeatable and obviously as he gets older he will lose his edge like everyone else. That said I really dont see a mix martial artist ever being as dominant or holding a record like he has had in the future.

Oh and the Shamrocks unbeatable? You need to study up on your tapes, even mentioning them in that category, EVEN in a fan boy sense at the height of their careers is amazingly ignorant.

Ill certainly not forget him. He is on a 26 fight win streak, and he's faced the "whos who" of heavy weights. I would be very surprised if I ever see another HW be as dominant as he was and is in the rest of my life. The last UFC HW champ he beat (the 5th one) he apologized for having a "lack luster" performance after knocking him out in the first.

If he loses his next 10, he was still the greatest heavyweight and probably mixed martial artist who has lived until this point.

To be honest all fighters, even fedor, lose,or get to old for this sport.some young kid will always step up in there place as well but i dont see fedor being forgotten any time soon.his stigma is like mike tysons, people will ALWAYS say "well when fedor was in his prime he would own this new guy" or "fedor in his prime was unbeatable" just like people do for mike tyson.the fact of this world is people get old.. and even if he does get forgotten by some i promise i will never forget fedor.ever.he has had the biggest influence on me out of any fighter in history and ive loved fighting for a long time.its not even who he is inside the ring its who he is outside the ring that ill always remember

yha I did say it was starting anderson. But really they names that just popped up in my head.

and yes in his young day ken shamrock was a beast he was the first ever ufc champion but where he woul really shine was in japan he dominated some top opponents including guys like bass rutten. His flying heel hook was legenday.

but he got old lost allot of fight and see what happens. Should have retired after the fight with kimo and he would still be seen as a legend.

watch his highlights
