NOT the same old boxer vs mma fighter post
I have recently been thinking about something. Now most of us argee that in a boxing ring a professional boxer would be able to take a professional mma fighter but under mma rules a mma fighter would be able to take a boxer mostly due to inexperince with ground work or fighting in the clinch etc. BUT what if a boxer were to fight someone such as chuck liddell or Tim sylvia(there are probably others but i'll just use those two champions as examples) though both chuck and tim have wrestler backgrounds(i think tim sylvia does any way im not sure dont care enough to really check)and sufficient ground skills im not dicarding that but they prefer to just punch and strike and only use their ground skills to get back up or avoid the takedown in other words just defensively. Now what if two such fighters were to fight top notch boxers would they probably lose even in a fight under MMA rules? My personal guess would be yes though they are both good fighters (well chuck is anyways ) i dont see they exhibiting any skills that would give they a clear advantage over top boxers who only focus on striking. It kinda bothers me that even dominant ufc champs would be crippled by boxers in their own world so to speak. What do you guys think? I am in no way saying boxing is better than mma these are just some thoughts that i have been pondering lately.
What say you?
and please no dumbass comments like that is the dumbest shit i have ever heard if you want to criticize my thoughts at least give some insight thank you

You would still have to worry about kicking in a MMA enviroment, I've seen Chuck throw some kicks before and that, to me, would throw off the boxer. In boxing you tend to block alot but thats because of the size of the glove and in MMA you block using your arms which a boxer is not use to, either. You could pick any boxer right now and put him in the ring/octagon against Liddell or Sylvia and the boxer would lose, even if your not aloud to go to the ground. Boxing is too one-dimensional, and I know some people will say Chuck is a one-dimensional fighter but the difference is Chuck is a kickboxer.
Kickboxing > Boxing
Now I know in this video Yoshida is not a boxer but he is trying to be. A kickboxer just has to use this strategy, "chopping down the tree" and it is a sure victory.

well first off chuck and sylvia dont kick too much so it isnt a big part of thier arsenal, sylvia really cant kick for shit and though chuck has a kick boxing back ground its just like how he has a wrestlers background he doesnt use those skills and i dont remember which fight it was but it was Frank Trigg was commentating and he was saying how kickboxers alwasy have a disadvantage against boxers because a punch can just come in that much fast than any round house (maybe except a mirko high kick ) he gave other explainations too but i wasnt fully paying attention ill try and see if i can find it and lastly that video was a horrible comparason yoshida really couldnt box for shit and was even trying to go for a takedown mirko was easily out boxing him and got the knock out but i would argee that low kicks would really throw off a boxer's footwork but again its not like chuck and sylvia are known for those either

I got to go with Kameleon on this one, the gloves comparison is a good point.
By the way, does anyone know how to download videos on dailymotion to your computer?

Dude, check out Tim Sylvia vs, Tra Telligman in UFC 54. He almost kicks telligmans head off, telligman hasn't fought since. Chuck can kick allright when he wants to as well. He knocked out babalu in their first match with a kick. I think he may have thrown some against Jeremy horn as well, but I'm not sure.

Chuck Liddell used to kick alot in his older fights, i mean constantly which got old, luckily he found out he has KO power and a good counter punching ability, not saying kicks are bad but constant kicks can get old fast, although it is a great strategy.

not a real good match up, becuase they would just swtich to some wrestling and own them easily...but in a striking war, boxers aren't used to getting kicked
