Next Possible opponent for Brett Rogers

Quote:
The next possible opponent for Brett Rogers is? Using the rankings from Zewkey.com, we have the top 25 heavyweights. We have to take out the UFC fighters because he hasn't signed with the UFC......yet or ever. Brett Rogers is currently ranked 11th. Four opponents rank above him:

1. Fedor
3. Josh Barnett
5. Alistair Overeem
9. Aleks Emelianenko

The rumor going around was Rogers vs Overeem at Strikeforce's August 15th card. Unfortunately, for Rogers but fortunately for fight fans, Overeem is fighting and he is set to take on Fabricio Werdum. Based on Overeem's current fight schedule with Strikeforce, he is scheduled to fight next for Strikeforce in 2011. Overeem's last fight for Strikeforce was in 2007. I'm kidding of course.

I don't think Brett Rogers at this time if ever could beat Fedor and for the time being - Josh Barnett. This leaves Overeem but if the fight didn't happen at the August 15th card, one wonders if the fight will happen ever. This is leaving the other Emelianenko, Aleks. Their is countless rumors going around about him.

The only opponent left to fight that is ranked above Andrei Arlovski, who was defeated rather quickly by Rogers is Antonio Silvia.

On July 26, 2008 Silva won the EliteXC Heavyweight title with a second round TKO over late UFC veteran Justin Eilers. Silva later tested positive after the fight with Eilers for the anabolic steroid Boldenone, was suspended for 1 year, and fined $2500.00 by the California State Athletic Commission. Silva could be available to fight in August.

The perfect opponent for Brett Rogers for the August 15th card: Antonio Silva at least for the time being.

Sign this fight, Antonio Silva vs Brett Rogers.

Other nice matchups would be Brett Rogers vs
Paul Buentello
Tim Sylvia
Fabricio Werdum (scheduled to fight Overeem at the August 15th card)

I would personally like to see Rogers fight against the winner of the Buentello vs Yvel fight. Out of your suggestions (Fedor, Barnett, Overeem, Aleksander, Buentello, Sylvia, and Werdum) take this into analysis:
Fedor and Barnett, like you said, are probably on another level from the young, but dangerous, Rogers.
Overeem, Werdum, and Buentello have a fight coming up, making match-ups with these fighters having to be pushed on to a later date.
Tim Sylvia hasn't proved too good in his last outings, taking 3 consecutive defeats, one of them against a 48 year old ex-boxer, diminishing Sylvia's status, and removing his Affliction match.

So at the moment a Rogers vs Silva match would be a good, and logical idea, especially since Silva hasn't had any recent fights.

Not only would Silva fight vs Rogers be great for both fighters and mma fans but for Strikeforce as well.

This fight would give Rogers another legit fight vs EliteXC Heavyweight (a decent org) and top 15 fighter but give Silva opponent that is up and coming and getting a lot of hype.

If Rogers defeated Silva, you have a legit fighter with Rogers and fight vs Overeem (I expect he wins) that a lot of fights would want to see and could do wonders for Strikeforce on CBS.

I still think Strikeforce's August 15th card should be on CBS. Could do wonders for the organization.

That would be sweet! We dont have showtime in Canada, so I had to shell out $50 to get the Lawler/Sheilds ppv last month. I definitly want to see the Aug 15th show, but with Affliction and the 2 UFC PPV's in August, I think I just might look for this one to stream somewhere.

I like Rogers vs Silva or the winner of Yvel/Buentello. A fight with Aleks would be extremely exciting, but havent they had a lot of trouble getting Aleks licensed to fight in the states?

Yeah, we can speculate into why Aleks can't get licensing in the US but there really is no point.

That would be excellent opponent for Rogers but there really isn't much reason to give him that opponent unless Strikeforce wants the fight to be somewhere other than the US. Canada wouldn't be a bad option but Strikeforce needs to make a name for themselves in US first.

Yvel and Buentello would be excellent matchups for Rogers. I believe he could defeat all three, I'm not positive he could defeat Silva but I believe he could defeat Buentello but I wouldn't bet much money on him defeating Yvel if any.

This card is stacked, this would have a lot of mma fans excited and the causal sports fan would tune in because of the mainstream appeal of Gina. Gina would bring in the casual sport fan the same way Kimbo did. Out of curosity this fight could do very well rating wise and plus our friends in the north would like to see the fight as well...legally.

Fozzy, you should have streamed the last fight and bought this fight. Although you got your monies worth in the last card, I thought the fight card was excellent. A lot of exciting fights especially the fights I thought would be boring.

I thought CSAC had Silva on Lockdown because he faught while on their steroid suspension?

I remember clearly them saying that his license was revoked and was going to have an extremely hard time fighting in the US because of it.

Am I confused here?

Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva won't be fighting Brett Rogers in the states for a long time.

I'd like to see Rogers and Dave "Peewee" Herman get it on.

Either that or Paul Buentello.
