Eddie Alvarez stays undefeated
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA - It was an appropriate ending to an evening full of big hits.
In what amounted to the most one-sided bout of the evening, Eddie Alvarez destroyed Aaron Riley, retaining his MFC Welterweight belt with a KO just a few minutes into the first round.
It was a surprising result given that Riley has 32 career bouts to his name, and has come up against all styles of fighters. One would not expect him to be overwhelmed by anyone - but perhaps the finish was a testament to how devastating Alvarez truly is. Widely considered one of the most promising strikers in mixed martial arts, the Philadelphia native unleased left-right combos that displayed his boxing experience and training.
This wraps up the inaugural BodogFight: USA vs. Russia pay-per-view event. A sold-out Vancouver Agrodome was privy to some of the finest mixed martial arts in the planet tonight, and the event should go down as the start of something big moving forward.
