Overeem beating Werdum will only mean something to me if at some point it hits the ground and if Werdum shows up in shape and not looking like he has been subbmitting McDonalds employees for cheeseburgers.

I can see the play by play now

That made my day.

It's fair to say that knocking out Werdum, given that he was just knocked out by a guy no one had heard of, doesn't mean much. Still, I think that's the route Overeem is going to go.

He's not going to try and beat Vai Cavalo out on the mat. That's not going to happen. If Werdum wins, though, it'll open up a spot in the top ten, since Werdum can't really be seen as top ten given his recent loss.

It would also seriously cripple the credibility of Strikeforce's heavyweight division to have a champion who's not in the top ten, which is why I don't really understand (or like) this matchup, and think Rogers vs. Overeem would make much more sense.

Unhappy Overeem's Ranking

Well with most rankings Overeem isn't on the top ten anyways, this one being the exception!

Really?

I ran the first two sets of rankings that came to mind (dumb as I think they are), and both Sherdog and WAMMA have Overeem in the top ten.

I'm sure if I go through more listings, I'll find more, but sifting through google searches bores me, and I think I've already made my point.

If you don't like Overeem at #7, you can dispute it, but don't make things up. It makes you look like a moron.

Jake has legitimate shots at beating everyone in his weightclass other than GSP and Fitch.

I don't agree that Lawler should be ahead of GerardM. Lawler got beat in the first round by J Shields.

Pretty good rankings there, IMO. One thing I'd like to see is the point total for each fighter... this would give a better picture of how much of a gap is between each.

As much as I hate seeing Brock in the #2 spot, it's hard not to give it to the UFC champion. Altho I imagine there is a huge point differential between Brock and Fedor (as would be seen by the point totals).
