2 New Matches Confirmed For Shockwave 2006

PRIDE has officially confirmed 2 new matches for Shockwave 2006:

-Kazuhiro Nakamura vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
-Takanori Gomi vs. Mitsuhiro Ishida (non-title match)

I'm pretty disappointed that PRIDE is having another non-title match for Gomi. This is his 2nd non-title fight of the year, and Ishida is definitely worthy of a title fight IMO. I thought PRIDE was gonna stop this trend of non-title fights. The match itself should be great though.

I'm not at all surprised that the Gomi vs. Ishida fight is non-title. In a post-fight interview after the last Bushido, Takanori Gomi said his next fight would most likely be non-title. I do agree that Ishida is worthy of a title shot though.

As far as the other fight goes. Nakamura, man that dude is a warrior. He's going to get his ass whooped, but I give him credit for usually facing top competition.

What sucks is a Gomi/Ishida title fight was one of the top two matches I wanted to see. I've just lost a lot of interest in the match because it isn't a title fight. IMO, these are the two illegitimate champions of the Pride LW division and they should fight for the belt so Pride can once again have a legitimate champion.

Oh yeah, and I hope Ishida kicks the living shit out of Gomi.

a title fight would have been good but i dont care that much as long a i see a good fight from gomi the last one wasnt all that great i wanna see a rubber match and i was actually also hoping that gomi would be able to avenge his loss against hell boy hansen and shogun is gonna beat the shit out of nakamura

Gomi is evil, man...love watching him fight but seein him fight Hellboy is definitely on my top of the "things to see" list. Unfortunately, this fight is non-title for two very capable competitors, but edge-wise I will say Gomi (perhaps a little biased though).

And Noguiera is going to kill in his fight

the gomi ishida fight would be alot more intriguing if it was a title fight. but i'll still be watching.
