Strikeforce and Dream forming alliance

Quote:
Halfway around the globe, Dream is expected to announce an “alliance” with Strikeforce, the result of a longstanding relationship between Scott Coker and the Japanese promotion.

The Strikeforce CEO has maintained a good relationship with promoter Kazuyoshi Ishii from Dream parent company Fight Entertainment Group, whom he worked with for eight years as the U.S. promoter of K-1 kickboxing. The alliance formalizes that relationship.

In a Tuesday interview with MMAWeekly.com, Coker likened the deal to post-season baseball where teams of different leagues face off, pairing better players against one another.

“At the beginning of this MMA relationship, we had talked about having Dream fighters come over, and our fighters go over there, and having this relationship,” Coker told MMAWeekly.com. “Well, we all got busy and we never really had the opportunity when they wanted Jake (Shields) to fight over there and when we wanted (Shinya) Aoki, he was scheduled to fight. Now we’re going to be able to put those dream fights together."

The talent exchange between the promotions will be exclusive.

“If we want to get Japanese fighters, we would work exclusively with Dream, and Dream would work exclusively with us, and M-1 as well," said Coker. "M-1 will be part of this too.”

For once and I will probably never say this again but Id like to hear what Nick Diaz has to say since he has said he had problems getting paid for his fight in Dream and has publicly criticized them.

Great news, two growing orgs sharing talent and getting stronger together. I see hits as a win-win situation as long as neither company relies on the other's financials (I'd be cautious around Dream's accouting).

Looks like a new battle is going to emerge in the MMA world. This time between companies again. UFC vs Strikeforce/Dream.

UFC isn't vs. anything, just two seperate, awesome orgs. These two companies were prettymuch sister companies anyway, but this news is great.

I will bet right now Monson/Fedor will happen in Strikeforce, with Monson having I believe one more fight on his Dream contract and with his travel Visa suspended for the grafiti incident the fight just makes sense now, Strikeforce needs some solid opponents for Fedor if they want him to fight a couple of times before fighting for the belt and Im sure they will keep Werdum and Rogers to challenge for the belt since they are both contracted to Strikeforce.

Man there are so many possibilities for cross promotion fights here.

Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva, Melvin, Aoki, Hellboy, Kawajiri, JZ and so on.

They can make some serious noise with this. Damn this is really good.

im kinda "meh" about this. strikeforce had a good thing going but imo ( it may take years tho ) Strikeforce will fall due to the shady buisness practises of M-1 . We all know PRIDE was shady at best , great events but there was corruption no doubt, and theres the same guys that runned PRIDE that runs DREAM. To sum it up, the DREAM/M-1 combo will be bad for strikeforce in the long run imo. And im one of those that DONT like co-promoting
