I enjoy the TUF series, because it gives me a little bit more insight into the guys that the UFC recruits. I think there are alot of guys in that house that deserve contracts, but there are always guys that are a joke. (Danny Abbadi, Rory Singer) Those are the type of guys who I'd like to give a nice shin kick to the head or an armbar, but Ed Herman got to do that last one for me.

There are alot of people who get exposed to UFC and TUF because it's mainstream, but when people start watching PRIDE fights they really start to understand that MMA is bigger than just the US and the fighters are much better than just the guys the UFC has to offer. I'm not alking down about the UFC, but the PRIDE heavyweight division is a roster that just makes me want to slug someone who talks down about this organization.

I also think that the attittude of PRIDE FC fighters as being humble (for the most part) and very respectful. I get the impression that alot of the UFC guys are encouraged to act out. I draw this conclusion because I remember Josh Barnett being very loud-mouthed in the UFC, but when he went over to PRIDE he really started to show some respect to his opponents. The same to Kevin Randleman. Perhaps this comes with losing to Crocop, but you know what I mean.

I think that MMA and great fighters shouldn't be watched because they're in one organization, they should be watched because they're great fighters. The same is true for great fights. That's what being an MMA fan is all about.

Rich Clementi vs Shonie Carter(TUF 4).

Easily the 2 best fights from the TUF series(Not counting Finales). Try to get a hold of these 2 matches.

Am I the only one who liked Herman vs Grove more than Griffin vs Bonnar?

I personally have no problem with the TUF series. On one hand, it brought the UFC a ton of success, and got them a solid TV deal with Spike. On the other hand, it brought in hordes of stupid fans, and bad fighters who don't belong anywhere near a UFC card.

I don't care about the whole Pride vs UFC thing. It's all MMA to me.

Thats something else that really bothers me about the UFC is that the majority of the fans show no respect for the fighters putting their live on the line for our entertainment they booo every chance they get and rarley is it justified. MMA in America is becomeing more like boxing all the time and it makes me sick.

On the other hand the Japanese fan are extremely respectful never booo and respect the loosing fighter even more if that fight gave it his all. Thats how it should be everywhere.

It just seems like the people who show up for live UFC shows want to see people stand up and punch each other. That's fine, but they should understand that this isn't a boxing event. Grappling is a huge part of MMA, and these morons boo a fight that doesn't have one guy KO'ing another. The old UFC fans didn't really do this kind of thing. When they booed, it was totally justified(Shamrock vs Gracie 2 & Shamrock vs Severn 2). It seemed like Marquardt vs Salaverry(What a terrible fight that features 2 guys I dig), and Gonzaga vs Jordan were the only fights that were rightfully booed out of the building in the current UFC. I'm sure I'm missing some more, but you you get the point.

RedlineMMA just let me say your getting off to a great start on this forum.

I think the issue of less Pride fans than UFC fans around here is Prides own fault. UFC advertises and promotes there ass off. While Pride really doesnt do any of that at all, at least not here. If Pride woul take the same approach UFC did they could overtake the UFC. The only thing that would stop them is that theres alot more drama in the UFC and American fans are drawn to that and that annoys the hell outta me.

In TUF defense it has attracted a TON of ignorant fans who think UFC is the end all be all of mma but it has also attracted people who really get into mma itself and look more into it and eventually discover Pride and realize how great it is. I myself had this expierance. But dont think Ive just seen Prides from TUF time period on because Ive watched a TON of Pride videos.

I have also seen those fights they were good but again as a whole the TUF series hasn't been that great but aslong as its on TV I'll probably watch.

There are alot more UFC fans than Pride fans so if your I fan of one then why not be a fan of the other as well. Hopefully in a few years they will both be equally as popular in the States.

I grew up watching UFC from the beginning and I never knew of pride until last year. I think part of the problem is that people haven't had the exposure to Pride and they don't know what they are missing. It's ashame that people can be so blindsided and are missing out on some of the best fighter in the world.

Yes welcome Redline you should fit in good. Be sure to check out the off-topic section we could also use another pothead in there haha.

The answer to your question has prolly already been said but it's basically because most UFC fans are new and ignorant. But like the poster above me said I also grew up watching UFC and not knowing about PRIDE until a little more than a year ago. I love PRIDE and have watched damn near every fight I just know more about UFC so I don't post as much in the PRIDE section because, well I'm not sure really I guess I just like talking about UFC more than PRIDE. UFC is on more PRIDE is just every now and then so I kinda find myself ignoring that forum at times when nothing is new. And I also find the TUF series to be pretty lame.

TUF introduced me to MMA. But Im a success story, I started watching TUF then the bigger UFC shows, found this forum and was introduced to Pride. Now I hold Pride higher than UFC for the simple fact that they bring fighters from all over the world to compete whereas UFC is mainly Canada and US. But at the same time I watch anything that is MMA related regardless of brand attached to it.
