Arrow Fedor vs Machida - The fight that will never happen...

FEDOR EMELIANENKO vs LYOTO MACHIDA

vs

31-1 vs 16-0

You may be thinking "what has Machida done? Why would he deserve to fight Fedor?!" Maybe you're right. Maybe you're not. However, Machida isnt just some run-of-the-mill throw away fighter. He is one of the most disciplined men you will ever see compete in MMA. He is a true warrior who's main focus in life is on training and getting better. He has very few weaknesses and is one of the most mentally tough fighters ever. His skill and techneque are second to none. So, without a doubt, Lyoto Machida would be more than a formidable opponent for Fedor.

Most likely, Fedor would have his hand raised at the end. He always does. But, without focusing soley on the outcome, how do you see the actual battle going down? How would Machida's Karate match up against Fedor's Sambo? How does Machida's Sumo match up against Fedor's Judo? How does Fedor's unstoppable hyper-offense, match up against Machida's unique ultra counter-defense?

Granted, Machida would be giving up about 15-20 pounds (because he walks around at 214) but I dont think this would phase him much, because the size difference here is not that great. Both men are the same size, but Fedor is a little thicker. Both have the same reach.

So what are your opinions of this mammoth matchup? Personally, I would have liked to see this fight back when Machida fought at HW (just look at his fight against Bonnar! Amazing!!!!) Then, it would have been great! But, looking at it now (it would have to take place in some sort of OWGP style event) how does the whole thing go down, from beginning to end? Both show up 100% physically & mentally prepared.

Please read the thread before you post. I think Fedor would win aswell, but its not necessarily about who wins or loses. Its about how does the actual fight go down before whoever wins or loses.

Fedor would take it right to the ground IMO.

It would certainly be interesting to watch Fedor stalk Machida; and at the same time watch Machida try and counter.

Machida isnt totally oblivios. He has Anderson & his father Yoshizo to help train him. Im sure they would come up with some sort of interesting gameplan.

What about Karate vs Sambo? Especially between these two masters of their own Martial Art.

Theoretically a karate practitioner might have a striking edge over a sambo practitioner, but in this case the stalking/countering might turn in to a lengthy chess match with a lot of backing up.

Like he did against Shogun?

I pretty much guarantee whatever would happen in this fight, it wouldn't be too lengthy. Fedor has proven KO power with both hands and could most likely take it to the ground.

IMO, Machida dgoes in for a leg kick, gets caught and taken down. Then Fedor, out of respect for Machida's groundgame, pummels The Dragon to a pulp instead of trying to go for a sub.

Isn't a thread about a fight "that will nevre happen" kinda like making a Jesus vs Moses thread? It's like....slightly, not really interesting, but in the end...who cares?

Either way, I want to see the Ultimate Dragon vs Scorpion.

Well, it could happen. But chances are, it wont. Machida has aspirations of fighting again at HW.

I'm 99% certain Fedor will take this to the ground and submit/gnp Machida out.

Not hating on you or Machida but the dude was getting a lot of hype and I'm kind of glad that Shogun made him look human. Machida is a great fighter but his fans were getting pretty annoying after he whooped Evans.
