Might be a stupid question

But why exactly does everyone hate Kimbo? This is a serious question, I don't know why. Is it the fact that he's a former street fighter? Or that he's not very well rounded? Is it his fans? He seems humble enough, and doesn't trash talk much more than anyone else. He's training well with Bas, and seems content to slowly climb his way up the ladder. From what I know he hasn't really shown disrespect for the sport or anything like that. But like 100% of this forum wants to see Kimbo get totally smashed.

I don't get it, why is he hated so much?

It hink it is becasue he is a former street figher and I have seen a couple of his fights and they are not great. Ive not seen the Sean Gannon fight which is supposed to be immense though.

If you look at Lesnar and Kimbo both get hated on as they pretty much went straight to the top of their respective orgs Kimbo even more so and they keep feeding him cans and two of his MMA fights have been been contreversial one opponent supposedly took a dive and his last fight should have been stopped as he was on the deck taken a beating.

I suppose its because he has not paid his dues and worked his way up also casual mma fans think he is the baddest man on the planet but he has serious holes in his game.

Correct, I think it's because he has suddenly been slingshot to the top and is the face of MMA while other fighters, who have invested MUCH more into this sport are forgotten about.

The way he is marketed, you'd think he's defending world champion or something. But the guy has had bum fights and is too green to deserve that kind of hype. Same for Lesnar. I think the reason why people hate him is because, one; he's from a fake wrestling organization, and two; he's suddenly walkin around with the big boys, being called a top fighter.

Alot of the hate comes from their fans too, they're just not at the same level as the hardcores.

But isn't that just contradictory? I mean Lesnar gets Mir in his first fight, then beats Herring and gets a title shot and everyone says he is undeserving and needs to work his way up like everyone else. Kimbo fights low level fighters and suddenly he's just being fed cans to get hyped up. This is just a lose-lose situation for Kimbo and Brock either they get big fights and they're undeserving, or they fight low level fighters like everyone else and they're 'just being fed cans'.

Kimbo and Brock don't control the amount of hype that surrounds them and for the most part from what I've seen they've been pretty humble. They can't do anything about their backrounds either, Kimbo had street fights and Brock is a former pro-wrestler. Neither is a first in MMA, I'm sure they've been people who started off on the streets just like there have been lots and lots of pro-wrestlers making the move to MMA (especially in Japan).

I dont hate kimbo, but I want him to lose.
EliteXC uses him as a cash cow and hypes him to deceive casual fans into thinking hes a top contender at HW.

If he loses, their bs will be up.. or at least their progress will be hindered greatly.

I realize its just business, and Kimbo wants coin.. EliteXC wants coin.. but this is garbage, this is as close as you can get to fixing fights imo. All his fights are against over the hill guys that are all like 1-8 in the last 5 years. These arent even cans, they are much worse then that. If he was a true contender, or had any intention to become a real contender, he would be fighting opponents with a bit more skill.

Kimbo humble? sure.
Brock definitely not...
Before even entering the UFC he was talking trash about all the fighters he could beat. Hes talked shit in his interviews. He did numerous disrespectful things to Herring throughout their fight. He even mocked him after the fight was over.

I dont dislike Lesnar but it annoys me that he is in the title tournament. Taking on MIr in your second ever fight takes courage and he could have milked his fame but he wants to be a contender, so fair play to him. Although i would like to see him get two more wins before we can talk about title shots.

As Baileyz said Kimbo gets hyped as if he is the bastard love child of Genghis Khan and Thor and could walk through anyone but Elite xc are protecting him and that gets fans irratated,at least the UFC are throwing Brock to the wolves.

Kimbo would get more respect if he fought top competition and no Ken is not top comeptition unless they have went back in time and kidnapped mid 90's Ken then he will most likely get destroyed and Elite XC will call Kimbo the legend killer, its all hype and they know it.

If/When Elite XC goes I expect the UFC to hire Kimbo and set someone like Shane Carwin or Cain Valesquez on Kimbo just so he gets mauled then the UFC have another UFC HW star to promote

What I'm hearing from you guys seems to be a bit hypocritical. You seem to not like Brock for fighting top competition, and you also seem to not like Kimbo for not fighting top competition. Doesn't make much sense to me.

I understand why guys dislike Kimbo but I personally don't agree with it. The guy doesn't call himself top 10 or anything he hasn't disrespected top fighters(don't bring up the Chuck thing that is Chuck's fault). However I do understand why people don't like all the attention Kimbo gets.

However to be fair it's not Kimbo's fault people want to see him fight. Kimbo is in the main event because he's a draw already something it takes other fighters careers to be.

I have to say that I am starting to like Kimbo. He is training and learning new stuff everyday. What I don't like is that he thinks he is ready to fight big names like Fedor! But the guy is just trying to make a career in mma. Everyone hates him because he got his fame from youtube street fighting. Give the guy a break. He is training and putting in work like any other fighter! He was smart and got fame from his youtube antics. I might sound crazy but I am starting to cheer on this guy!
