Rampage has never fought in the UFC before. That was WFA. I figured the reason they didnt show Pride footage was for copyright reasons.

How the hell would it be stupid to show Pride footage if they could? They wouldnt be advertising Pride, they would be advertising Cro Cop. They wouldnt even have to mention Pride they could just show a LHK.

2 of my favorite fighters for sure in the UFC could be interesting. Hopefully Rampage gets to fight chuck within a year.

Yah they wouldnt want to pay Pride any money for Cro Cop highlight footage. He never fought mma in any other organization. They could have paid K-1 to show his kickboxing footage but thats not really MMA so I dont think they would want to do that.

The Rampage footage was all fro his fight against Lindland in the WFA. Too bad they couldnt show his KO on Arona or even the one on Randleman. The crowd definetly would have made a way bigger response to announcing him.

I saw that thing about them fighting at 67, but I was pretty shocked. Not so much w/ Rampage, but w/ Cro-Cop. That's a pretty big defection from Pride. That's not a bad thing though. Hope he stays HW and fights Sylvia. Then Sylvia can crap his pants during a fight for a 2nd time when he gets nailed w/ that big kick.

On a side note, that sucks for Pride. I'm not loyal to either organization, just a fan of MMA in general. While I like UFC, I was really hoping to see Pride gain more of a base here in the states. This could be a big blow to that.

they wont and cant show events from other venues because thats free promotion. You rarely hear them even mention fighters fights in other venues. when they talked about lidel and rampages fight they just mentioned his name and never mentioned the venue.

With the Light heavy weight division the only superstars they had were chuck and tito and all the other guys are decent fighters to watch.

The heavy weight division has monson, arlovski but then the general pool of fighters isnt that great. alot of them are just really big. Crocop adds a world class fighter to the mix id love to see him fight monson, or arlovski. If love to see him beat the crap out of tim silvia lol.

Maybee this is part of some major moves to improve the general quality of the heavy weight division. Now with Jackson though they have made a great light heavy weight division. Im pretty happy with the pool of figthers they have for events and the superstars they have to chose from they finally have a big three in heavy weight and lh now.

i was watching the PPV with my neighbor who knows little about MMA. in a high camera shot of the octagon, way in the background i saw a screen saying Mirko Cro Cop... i gasped and giggled like a school girl and said "OOHHH its true?!?!" then they did the promo of Rampage and Cro Cop. i was soo excited, then i went on for about 20 minutes about Cro Cop stuff and my neighbor almost wanted to leave...

but i now have an Aunt who lives in Vegas, like 3 blocks off the strip..... hmmm maybe i can splurge for some tickets...... anyone else gonna go?

I can't wait to see them in action either! The Chuck v Rampage II will be good & I'm not sure Chuck will pull it off. He doesn't look that much different from the 1st encounter. he's maybe a bit bigger in the shoulders n arms but it's just the same style/technique. Rampage made him look very average. I wonder if it's just the lack of good strikers in the UFC that makes the likes of Chuck look so good. When was the last time you see him go for the TD? Even where he KO's Overeem he was caught a few times and went for the take down.

Consolidation like this is great for MMA in general. The average American probably hasn't heard of Pride, as it's really hard to find here. If there is one major MMA league, it makes it much easier for a casual viewer to follow, and eliminates any controversy over who the real champions are. Hopefully Pride and UFC will merge at some point, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

I definitely second that. While I don't doubt that UFC guys are good, I chuckle whenever I hear Goldberg & Rogan uttering things like 'he's the greatest W.W. in the world' or 'he's the best fighter in his class'. I'm just thinking, how do you know he's the best in THE WORLD. Has he gone and fought Gomi, Shogun or Fedor (or guys like that)?? But, if they couldn't even work out one fight (Chuck/Silva), I doubt they'll ever find a way to merge into one organization. While I'm not hoping for that, it would be great (from a fan's perspective) to see inter-promotional PPV's. Pride v UFC would be a great PPV in my opinion. If only one time, why not do it. Champ v Champ. Then, each org. can truely claim that they have the WORLD CHAMP of whatever weight class.
