My Humble 2cents

Crocop systematically broke Yoshida’s lead left leg down before blowing out the right knee with a right leg kick, that made Yoshida end the fight. Mirko kept him at bay with his takedown defense, proving deadly at either the beginning or at the end of round. Yoshida tested him with a few submission attempts, but was picked apart by staying in range of that left leg. Riggs said that it’s Crocop’s year, but no fighter is as flat footed nor one dimensional as Yoshida left in the competition. He has a chance, but I don’t think his ground game is good enough right now, and though he stunned Yoshida with a nice uppercut, he just doesn’t seem to flow well with them hands. His best chance is if they match him with Barnett, and he gets and early knockout in the tourney.

Silva’s short legs and arms prevented him from choking out Fujita. Iron Head’s skull hat a good testing in the fight. He’s going to be dangerous to beat in the next round. I like his chances against everyone.

Nogureira had a tough fight. It was a technical masterpiece between two great BJJ blackbelts. He’s a great warrior and I can’t imagine any opponent comfortable on the ground with him.

I’m not familiar with Barnett, and I’ve never seen Hunt do anything on the ground so its hard to gage here. Hunt was amateur like on the ground. Barnett is the biggest guy in the tournament (+250), but seems to have the least evidence of a champion standup technique.

One-dimensional or not, I still think CC has the best chance of winning this thing. Cro Cop's TD defense has risen enough to where Silva won't be getting him down easy anymore, he and Barnett's fight will play out very similar to their last fight, and Nog only has a subber's chance again against CC (although he got it last time, and could definitely get it again). CC's biggest threat is going to be his cardio, I don't know if he can go two 15 minute fights.

Barnett I think can decision both Silva and Nogueira. He has better wrestling and is way stronger than both, and will most likely take them down and score points. I can't see him stopping either guy though.

I can see Nogueira subbing any of these guys, although a low chance against all three of them. Cro Cop like I said above will be hard to get down, Barnett is way too strong for Nog and his sub defense is good, and Silva's ground game is almost completely defensive from what I've seen (unless he's standing and trying to stomp a downed opponent in the face). I can see him decisioning Silva.

Silva... going to be hard as hell for him. His easiest opponent will be CC, since that's the only guy who's ground is possibly worse than his. The stand up war will be quite even, but I give a slight advantage to CC even though Silva has the better chin. I see both Barnett and Nogueira taking him down and scoring points, or doing the (seemingly) impossible and subbing him.

Glad you brought that up about CC's cardio. That's two big holes in his game. Like I said no one is as flat footed and I don't even think Barnett would be dumb enough to stand there and get wacked in the legs or head.

Silva is a black belt in BJJ. I just think he believes his stand up is better than any of his oppenents. He tried to Sub Fujita a few times. And Fujita rocked Fedor before being subbd. I like his chances, and want to see him fight Fedor. Though its a good story line if CC were to win.
