Do you think it's more enjoyable to watch MMA fights live in the building or on TV?

I went to UFC 63 at the Pond and it was cool... had a great time w/ my buddies... but I don't know if it was any better than the times I've ordered PPV's with friends.

For one... I was watching the big screen the majority of the time... particularly when the fights went to the ground. We were towards the front of the upperlevel, which actually seemed like it might be better than the lower level because you could sort of see over the cage.

So... I'm up here in Vancouver till the 16th and ticket prices are back to around face value after being ridiculously marked up after they "sold out" in record time ... but I'm thinking I'd enjoy myself more just watching from the comfort of a friend's house.

Wondering what other people think who've been to live events.

obviously they are better in person, unless you like veiwing it through a small flickery box rather than feeling the exitment in person.

What events have YOU attended live in person?

I assure you the television I'd be watching it on is anything but a small flickery box.

I would be able to urinate inbetween rounds w/ out missing any action.


If there was a title fight... or any up and coming someday champs (like Bader or Bones Jones) I'd be more inclined... but these washed up oldies probably aren't worth checking out live, IMO.

One of the only reasons I'm still even considering going is because I know that the tickets are going to be dirt cheap as scalpers try to get rid of all the tickets they gobbled up (the word "firesale is being thrown around up here)


Anyway... It doesn't look like I'm going to get several informed opinions here like I was hoping for. Hopefully Sherdog activates and lets me post sometime today.

Well i have attended a live WWE event and it was an amazing experience, i hadn't watched p.wrestling for about 2 years but when they first came to Chile i decided to go check out the show.

When i was in the arena and heard myself and the crowd cheer, scream and boo i just felt like part of the show, it was amazing and nothing like watching at home.

now p.wresting relies a lot more on a purely entertainment value which might make thier live shows more atractive than the TV broadcasts but i'm pretty sure that the fights at 115 and the crowd there will provide all the electricity needed for an amazing night.

I've attended a UFC event and a WEC event. Honestly, the only thing that makes it worth it IMO is getting the chance to meet and and interact with the fighters. Other than that, its harder follow the action at the event than it is on your TV, its less comfortable at the venue than it is in your living room, if you get up to get food or go to the bathroom you may miss a flash KO or something, and when I was there I was so caught up in the atmosphere that everything kinda wizzed by. at the end of the night, the only fight I could rememeber when I thought back on it was the main event. Plus, if you order it on TV you can DVR and rewatch whenever you want.
That being said, I actually WOULD recommend going to at least one event for the experience of the atmosphere and meeting the fighters. And if it's an event with a card you're not that interested in, thats perfect, cause you won't be missing much if you can't follow the action and don't have it recorded on your DVR.

Thanks man... that's pretty much exactly the way I feel about it.

Right now I'm thinking I'll prob go if the weather is nice. Tickets are going below face value right now and it'll probably be even cheaper the day of the fight from desperate scalpers. I don't want to stand out in the cold rain though.


On another note... I think I might go to the Oakland show to see the Spider lose his belt. I think Sonnan can lay and prey enough to eek out a decision against Silva.
