That is all my opinion though.

The only belt I would like to work on getting and would use as "MMA Credentials" would be Gracie BJJ. I really need to start going to Gracie Barra Seattle...
Lol im not the guy who shows off his belt because i know its not black yet lol. When someone does ask me about my fighting styles i just talk about my experiance having a belt does not prove anything to anyone ...

Michael Bisping also trained in Vale Tudo, it's definitely applicable when it comes to MMA. Make sure that wherever you go, the coaches have real experience in training people that actually compete or that they've competed themselves. Also, make sure that they cater for people of different abilities. You should definitely go along and check out a session before joining and talk to people who use the place. I'd be very wary of any place that wants you to pay up front for yearly membership fees. Here in Blackpool, you pay 10 once a month for membership and it's 5 for each session attended. Good luck with your training mate, I hope you find somewhere decent.

Out of interest, what part of the country are you from?

Muay Thai does have a ranking system. They use colored arm bands. My trainer just had us all start out as a level 8 and every other month we would test for the next level all the way down to level 1 which was considered a Black Belt. Some could test sooner than others depending on how fast they learned. We didn't do the arm band thing but he told us about them and I've seen them many times at tournaments.
