Angelina Jolie Trained MMA For Her Latest Movie ‘SALT’

http://steverattlesnake.cliquezone.c...st-movie-‘salt

“Jolie who is known for doing her own stunts, prepared for her role with mixed martial arts style training. Her fight scenes reflect her Krav Maga and Muay Thai training. Jolie havingTomb Raider and Mr. and Mrs. Smith under her belt, gives her the ability to return to Krav Maga with a solid foundation and skill set. Jolie’s long time stunt coordinator Simon Crane says that Jolie was serious about her grueling fight scenes and like many of her previous stunts, wanted them to look believable. Jolie trained in Krav Maga and Muay Thai two hours a day 3-4 times a week to prepare for her fight scenes in SALT.”

Basically a no holds barred fighting system that is designed to end a fight as quickly as possible (eye gouging, groin strikes, diarms, ect.)

I believe the Israeli army uses it.

Think of it as self-defence on steroids.

krava maga is also improvisational, you're expected to use your environment and items within reach. not that i've trained it or anything but I have watched some tape of their training methods.

It's not remotely sport-oriented either.

A great example is Bas Rutten's Self Defence videos.

It's close combat IIRC, which would not lend itself all that well to film. MT is a much more plausible/believable art, in that regard.

I actually am watching Inception right now and I was just thinking that the wild, brutal, improvised style of krava maga is pretty good for films. In movies, fights are rarely like an organized MT fight, they usually have people doing all kinds of crazy attacks, using their surroundings and random items to their advantage, not counting on having a ring or cage, or only 1 opponent, or no potential weapons, but rather working with the environment you happen to be in.

Well the Kung Fu that Jacky Chan uses as is also usefull for movie fight scenes, but Inception is in a totally different league!
