Which fighter is the future of MMA?

The future of MMA. I believe it is undoubtedly bright and exciting. Fighters like Jon Jones are quickly turning into household names even though they are relatively young in the sport.

Fighters now have access to the best camps, trainers, information and spotlight that the sport has received so far. There is no reason why they can't fulfil their potential.

But who will be the next star? In my opinion, it will be Jose Aldo. I suspect most people will go for Jon Jones but Aldo is already a champion and has an impressive resume. He destroyed fighters such as Cub Swanson, Chris Mickle and Alexandre Franca Nogueira to get a shot at the title. His fight against Brown wasn't even close. He refused to be taken down and finished him in the 2nd. Very impressive win. Then along came "The California Kid" Urijah Faber. 25 minute destruction.

He has great TDD, striking and he can submit people. I think he will clear out the WEC 145 lb division, move up and beat the WEC 155 lb champion and eventually successfully move to the UFC. He will be P4P #1. I hope this is not brought up if he loses against Manny

Who do you think will become the new star of MMA?

I don't think you can consider a guy who is already number 1 in his weightclass the future. Aldo is the present.

perhaps. But still Aldo isn't very well known to casual fans. So perhaps in the context of being a Star he is the future. For example you can't say hes on the same level as a UFC champ

I can see people start calling Hector Lombard (27-2) the next Fedor, even though Lombard is 32 I wouldn't be shocked to see him fight for another 10-20 years and maybe even move to different weight classes.

Exactly.

Hector Lombard is a great shout. He has some heavy hands to say the least.

I really don't think you'll get the casual MMA fan to make stars out of FW and BW fighters. IMO Jones is the future star.

I think he's going to move up though. And eventually fight for the UFC.

Bones is definitely has the potential but 205 is stacked so there is tougher match ups for him than there is for Aldo.

The big issue with Jones' isn't that 205 is "stacked" it's if he is going to be able to keep making that cut. In five years we might see him switching places with JDS or Cain at HW.
