Guess no Warren vs Omigawa:

Quote:
Three new bouts have been added to the upcoming DREAM.16 card, officials today announced.

The matchups include Hiroyuki Takaya (13-8-1 MMA, 4-1 DREAM) vs. Chase Beebe (13-5-1 MMA, 0-2 DREAM), Michihiro Omigawa (11-8-1 MMA, 2-0 DREAM) vs. Cole Escovedo (16-5 MMA, 1-0 DREAM), and Mitsuhiro Ishida (19-6-1 MMA, 3-1 DREAM) vs. Akiyo "Wicky" Nishiura (11-5-1 MMA, 1-1 DREAM).

Omigawa initially was slated to fight newly crowned Bellator featherweight champ Joe Warren but instead fights for former WEC title-holder Escovedo.

DREAM.16 takes place Sept. 25 at Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan. The event airs on HDNet in North America.

Takaya, who recently posted a runnerup finish in the 2009 DREAM featherweight grand prix, recently rebounded from back-to-back losses to Bibiano Fernandes and Michihiro Omigawa with a knockout victory of Joachim Hansen at DREAM.14. His opponent, Beebe, a former WEC bantamweight champion, recently earned a split-decision win over Justin Bianco at an April regional event in Illinois to snap a five-fight winless streak. He attempts his first DREAM win for a third time after previous losses to Warren and Yoshiro Maeda.

Omigawa, a former PRIDE and UFC fighter, looks for his fifth straight victory and his second straight in DREAM. Back in July at DREAM.15, he submitted Young Sam Jung via guillotine choke. Escovedo, the first-ever WEC featherweight champion, recently snapped a five-fight win streak with a second-round knockout loss to Michael McDonald at July's Tachia Palace Fights event. Earlier in the year, he made his DREAM debut and scored a head-kick KO of Maeda at DREAM.13.

Ishida, who fell short in a title fight with Strikeforce lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez earlier this year, rebounded in July with a unanimous-decision win over Daiki Hata. Nishiura, meanwhile, recently rebounded from a 1-3 skid with a first-round TKO of Hideo Tokoro at DREAM.14.

The DREAM.16 card includes:

* Chase Beebe vs. Hiroyuki Takaya
* Cole Escovedo vs. Michihiro Omigawa
* Mitsuhiro Ishida vs. Akiyo "Wicky" Nishiura
* Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Kazushi Sakuraba
* Shinya Aoki vs. Marcus Aurelio
* "Lion" Takeshi Inoue vs. Kazuyuki Miyata
* Hideo Tokoro vs. Joachim Hansen
* Tatsuya Mizuno vs. Gegard Mousasi (for vacant light heavyweight title)
* Caol Uno vs. TBA*
* Ikuhisa Minowa vs. TBA*
* Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto vs. TBA*

* - Not officially announced

I guess issues with Bellator stopped Warren from fighting so soon. But considering the fight he just went through he deserves a rest!

This is a great card.

Miyata vs Lion will be fun. Well, it will be fun watching Miyata throw Inoue around like a rag doll.

Rumor has it Kid is taking on Michael McDonald. The guy who beat Escovedo recently, not the Doobie Brother.

Aoki should win a decision against Aurelio.

Omigawa is going to put on a freakin' clinic. I expect a sub. I don't blame Warren for not fighting Michihiro. Omigawa would've smoked him on the feet and subbed him.

I think Wicky's going to KO Ishida.

Mousasi should win easily.

Mayhem vs Saku is a sad, sad fight that would've ruled if it were Mayhem vs 1999 Saku.

Takaya by brutal KO.

MINOWAMAN!!!

UNO!!!!

Give me some Tokoro vs Hansen.

I love this!

I hope Ishida breaks Wikis neck.. I've never gotten over his flying armbar at the mansion.. that was a thing of beauty only to be witnessed once in a blue moon..

Minowa is fighting Ishii openweight instead of Thompson:

Quote:
Satoshi Ishii (1-1 MMA, 0-0 DREAM) makes his DREAM debut and meets veteran Ikuhisa "Minowaman" Minowa (46-30-8 MMA, 7-3 DREAM) at this weekend's DREAM.16 event, officials today announced.

The surprise booking is an open-weight bout, though Ishii, a judo gold medalist in the 2008 Summer Olympics, likely will have a nearly 30-pound advantage.

DREAM.16 takes place Sept. 25 at Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan. The event airs on HDNet in North America early Saturday morning (2 a.m. ET).

The booking comes after reports of a Minowa vs. James Thompson fight that never materialized.

Following his Olympic run and a decorated judo career, Ishii made his pro MMA debut this past December with World Victory Road's Sengoku event series and suffered a unanimous-decision loss to fellow Olympian Hidehiko Yoshida. He rebounded in May with a first-round submission of Tafa Misipati at an event in New Zealand, but in June, he took part in an exhibition bout at an X-1 event in Hawaii. Ishii battered opponent Myles Tynanes but continued the assault after the first round ended, which resulted in his disqualification.

Minowa, who won DREAM's open-weight "Super Hulk" grand prix in 2009 (despite being its lightest competitor), is riding a five-fight win streak with submissions wins over Bob Sapp, Hong Man Choi, Jimmy Ambriz and Imani Lee and a TKO victory over Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. The former PRIDE star soon enters his 16th year of professional competition.

The official DREAM.16 card now includes:

* Satoshi Ishii vs. Ikuhisa "Minowaman" Minowa
* Chase Beebe vs. Hiroyuki Takaya
* Cole Escovedo vs. Michihiro Omigawa
* Mitsuhiro Ishida vs. Akiyo "Wicky" Nishiura
* Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Kazushi Sakuraba
* Shinya Aoki vs. Marcus Aurelio
* Takeshi Inoue vs. Kazuyuki Miyata
* Joachim Hansen vs. Hideo Tokoro
* Tatsuya Mizuno vs. Gegard Mousasi (for vacant light heavyweight title)
