Roy Jones Jr. Open To Fight Kimbo Slice

Roy Jones Jr. Open To Fight Kimbo Slice; Rooting For Toney Against Couture | Steve Rattlesnake

I just wanted to get your quick thoughs on your fellow Floridian, Kimbo Slice, announcing that heíll be making his pro boxing debut later this year.

RJ: I think itís a beautiful thing for him to try the sweet science. Iíd have to see what heís weighing if he wants me to come in there and give him a try at it, but if he want it that bad, I might give it to Kimbo. Itís a great opportunity for him. Itís a great fight for Florida. Boxing needs all it can get right now, so if the fans get interested in wanting to see that, we can do that.

Kimboís got a lot of heart, heís got a lot talent, and it took a lot for him to get where he got in MMA. I think his main skill is boxing anyway. I think heíll be fine with it.

You know your boy James is stepping into the Octagon with Randy Couture. How do you think thatís going to play out?

RJ: Well, I think itís a wonderful fight. I think itís a great thing for MMA and for boxing because it gives us a chance to cross over again and meet in the middle and I canít wait.

Prediction?

RJ: I gotta go with my boy James.

This is basically everything that is wrong with boxing. A system of having supremely talented guys brutally beat on far less talented guys for the majority of their careers. I wouldn't watch this fight for the same reason I wouldn't watch a stoning.

Kimbo will do worse in boxing then he did in MMA.

And if RJJ is truly interested in fighting him, well then thats just sad his career has come to this.

Roy Jones is old and shell of his former self. That being said he would destroy Kimbo. There is no doubt about it. Kimbo doesn't have a punchers chance, because Kimbo doesn't hit that hard. Kimbo couldn't knock out less than stellar guys with one punch while wearing 4 oz gloves. There's no way he's knocking out Jones with 12 oz gloves. I don't know if Jones will embarrass him or just Ko him quickly. It's not a bad business decision for Jones, since most people don't want to see him box anymore. This Kimbo angle could bring in some descent ppv numbers.

You do know that there is no significant change in the amount of force in a punch between wearing 4oz gloves and 12oz gloves right?

And that's just one quick clip. There's a lot more.

Back to topic: this is just sad. RJJ would casually outbox Kimbo. The difference in boxing skill even with RJJ on the decline is vast.

But a great payday for both.

That is not dead which can eternal lie and withs strange aeons even death may die.

The thought of Kimbo fighting RJJ just puts a smile on my face.

He should do it anyway just because of the $, but as incredible as it sounds, it would be even more of a joke than him MMA career, and I wouldn't have thought that was possible.
