Something needs to be implemented to stop Blanketing

or else the whole UFC is gonna be about who is the strongest wrestler.

I know this is turning into a sport, but blanketing is like exploiting the rules.

This is equivalent of a 7 foot basketball player standing in the key the whole game. Yes, it still takes skills for a 7 footer to catch the ball in the key and dunk it, just like how it takes skills for a stronger wrestle to take down a smaller opponent. But it is clearly not fair.

No amount of skills or speed can help you stop a strong wrestler from taking you down for a whole fight, unless you are a better wrestler than him and take him down first.

I mean takedown are fine, but there needs to be a time limit on how long you can remain on the top blanketing someone without doing much.

I say let someone remain on top for 20 seconds, go for a submission or ground and pound. Finish the guy or be stood up again.

Takedown should be a finising move, when you have already injuried your opponent, not a game plan that is the whole fight.

For this sport to be exciting, we needs to implement rules that prevents fighters from not take any risk the whole fight and stall for a win.

Maynard vs Kenny
He backpedaled from Kenny 90% of the time, and throwed punches at the air, and then shot for a takedown at the last 40 secs of each round.

Most of GSP's fights after Matt Serra
tho at least GSP tries to do sth when he is on top.

If you don't like grappling don't watch MMA. Pretty simple.

Theres nothing wrong with laying on top of the guy as long as you are inflicting damage with strikes and/or attempting to go for submissions. Ive said this before and ill say this again: if you dont like guys like Gray Maynard, there are 5 things you can do against him in a fight:

1. Submit him when hes on top of you
2. Stand up
3. Beat him up with strikes and elbows from the bottom
4. Perform a sweep/reversal to get on top of him
5. DONT GET TAKEN DOWN IN THE FIRST PLACE

Quite frankly, if you are not capable of doing any of these five things as a fighter then you really dont deserve to win.
Having said that, i do think fights should be stood up if the guy is LnPing and not throwing any strikes whatsoever or making a reasonable attempt at advancing his BJJ position to make a submission attempt.

You don't know anything about the ground game.

Basically you have to be a better wrestler than your opponents to counter him.....

This is like saying in Shaq's prime, if he was allowed to camp in the key, you can still defend him
1. be stronger than him, move him out of the key
2. foul him, he cant shoot free throws
3. shoot 3 pointers, so that it is worth one more point than his dunk
4. triple team him
5. dont let him catch the ball
6. BLOCK HIS DUNKS

hell, even with 3 secs rule, Shaq still dominated.

even with 20 secs rule against pray and lay, skilled fighter like GSP will still own with stand up games, and clinches. But he would be forced to take some risks.

However there would be no place for one-dimensional fighters like Jon Fitch and Gray Maynard. As they have really no skills in striking.

off the top of my head:

chuck, cro-cop, bj, Machida, Nog.....Anderson Silva...hell anybody named silva does OK against wrestlers.

But I get your point. anyone who wants to be at the top of the sport should start wrestling.

However, wrestling is not the be all of mma. Wrestlers seem dominant now not because of wrestling alone. But because for whatever reason they are learning the other aspects of the sport faster and better than strikers and submission grapplers are learning wrestling.

You need it all. Wrestlers just have a head start.

Wrestling is fun and all doing it.
But watching it for more than 5 mins is boring as hell.

This should be MMA sport, MIXED Martial Art, now it is turning into who is the strongest wrestler.

There needs to be rules implemented so that lay and pray is completely eliminated from the game, so that more different styles of fighter can exist at the top level.
