Prangley-Jardine Agreed for Sept. 11 Shark Fights

Keith Jardine will get his first post-UFC challenge in promotional champion Trevor Prangley when they meet in a light heavyweight non-title bout at Shark Fights 13 on Sept. 11 in Lubbock, Texas, Sherdog.com has confirmed through both fighters’ camps.

"I'm looking forward to getting back in the cage after my last feeble performance," Prangley told Sherdog.com on Tuesday. "Keith is a super tough opponent and a real nice guy. It's good to see Shark Fights getting the higher caliber fighters and putting on consistently better shows."

The 37-year-old Prangley will look to bounce back from a first-round submission loss at the hands of Tim Kennedy at Strikeforce “Live” on June 16 in Los Angeles. The South African Olympic wrestling alternate, who resides in Couer D’Alene, Idaho, touts wins over Chael Sonnen, Jeremy Horn and Travis Lutter. Prangley earned the Texas promotion’s 205-pound title via first-submission over Marcus Sursa at Shark Fights 7 in November 2009.

Jardine was cut from the UFC following four straight defeats, including a majority decision loss to Matt Hamill at “The Ultimate Fighter 11” Finale on June 19 in Las Vegas. The 34-year-old Greg Jackson-trained fighter holds notable wins over former divisional champions Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin, but has suffered knockout losses in two of his last three bouts. Jardine had fought for the UFC since 2005, when he became a member of “The Ultimate Fighter” season 2 cast.

Sherdog.com has been told that the event will get a U.S. pay-per-view run from the upstart Texas promotion, which has banked impressive 10,000-plus attendance figures for its last couple of shows. Shark Fights is expected to make an announcement regarding the event, which will include additional marquee names, shortly.

I have a feeling Jardine is going to wreck Prangley.

Trevor takes this IMO. He'll get Jardine to the ground and dominate or finish.

Jardine Returns vs Prangley

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/...2079&zoneid=13

Quote:
Shark Fight Promotions on Friday confirmed that Keith Jardine and Trevor Prangley will headline Shark Fights 13. This will be Jardine's first post-UFC challenge since his recent departure from the organization. Jardine will face fellow UFC veteran and current Shark Fights light-heavyweight champion Trevor Prangley in a non-title bout.

Shark Fights 13 will take place on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Amarillo Civic Center in Amarillo, Texas.

According to Brent Medley, president of Shark Fight Promotions, "We are very excited that Keith Jardine and Trevor Prangley are fighting for our organization. Jardine had a lot of options, as several promoters were clamoring to sign him, but he chose to fight for us. Prangley is our light heavyweight champion and he always puts on an exciting fight. We feel that Jardine vs. Prangley is a very compelling match up for any organization."

Jardine (15-8-1) is looking to bounce back after a loss to Matt Hamill at “The Ultimate Fighter 11” finale last month in Las Vegas. Jardine, who is best known for fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), plans to defeat Prangley and add another notable win to his record. He has defeated some of the best fighters in the business, including Brandon Vera and former UFC champions Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell.

"To prove that I'm still a top contender I need to fight for credible organizations and face high caliber opponents,” commented Jardine. “Shark Fights has become a leading promoter over the last two years. The promotion has a huge following.

"I've known Brent Medley for several years, and in my opinion, he is one of the top matchmakers in the industry. When Brent approached me about fighting for Shark Fights and facing Trevor Prangley, I jumped at the opportunity. Prangley has an impressive list of notable wins and has only lost twice over the past three years."

Prangley (22-6-1) was on a six-fight win streak prior to his recent loss to Tim Kennedy at Strikeforce "Live" in Los Angeles. The South African Olympic alternate has fought for some of the top fight organizations in the industry and currently holds the Shark Fight light heavyweight title. Prangley holds impressive wins over top-notch fighters such as Chael Sonnen and Travis Lutter.

Prangley is looking forward to stepping into the cage to face Jardine.

"I'm looking forward to this fight. I'm ready to step into the cage and redeem myself. I'm not happy with my lackluster performance against Kennedy. I plan to come back strong. Keith is a tough opponent
Should be a good fight between two veterans.

With a move like this he obviously has aspirations of returning to the ufc

Dumb move cause he obviously cant hang with even lower tier ufc guys like hamill. He should cash in and join SF/Dream while hes still a name..

To Live is 2 suffer, 2 survive? well that is 2 find meaning in the suffering

This might be a justification for Strikeforce or DREAM to put Jardine against whichever lightheavyweight champion is in the promotion!

Jardine vs either King Mo or Mousasi would be amazing.

I'd imagine he'll go against the winner of the King Mo versus Rafael Cavalcante match!

I doubt it. I think he'd have to get past Mousasi, and or the winner of Sobral/Hendo first. And I don't think he can.
