That's an understatement.

Guy was giving him a kickboxing lesson right up to the illegal and deliberate head but knocked him senseless. When they helped Guy out of the ring it looked like he had a golf ball in the middle of his forehead.

I like this one soooo much!!!
Honestly, this was one of the fights that got me interested in MMA.
Sick finnish. These days it's hard to see something like this.
Simple example of a fighter who knew what he was doing and a fighter who thought he knew what he was doing.

LMAO at the commentary: "and Herrera is a very good grappler here..."

.

BELIEVE!

Liddell versus Sobral wasn't so much old school as some of those other fights. The two Hughes versus Trigg fights were definatly old school. I have to agree with Dana White that the second fight is one of the best fights of all time!

Some great fights from the old school UFC days:

Royce Gracie vs Kimo - The first fight to show Gracie was human and a brutal fight overall with Kimo getting his hair torn out and eventually arm barred for Royce's only win of UFC 3.

Oleg Taktarov vs Tank Abbott - Another gruelling fight leaving both fighters flat on their backs from exhaustion after 10min + of fighting. A lot of heart shown from both men which would see Tank succumb in the end to a rear naked choke.

Marco Ruas vs Paul Varelans - When striking and grappling finally combined in equal measures to win a UFC championship (Steve Jennum doesn't count). A brutal display of the underappreciated leg kick in this fight with Paul Varelans tumbling down in theatric sky scrapper fashion to Marco Ruas' crisp Muay Thai technique.

Dan Henderson vs Carlos Newton - Back and forth fight that could've gone either way between two talented MMA fighters who both went on to be champions within the sport. Henderson displays his famous granite chin in this contest taking some nasty shots from Carlos, whilst grinding out a decision win.

Bas Rutten vs Tsuyoshi Kosaka - A late flurry from Bas steals the win in his favour with barely any time left after repeated Kosaka takedowns throughout the fight were stifling his offence.

Frank Shamrock vs Tito Ortiz - The fight that Shamrock retired as undefeated UFC middleweight champion after winning the battle of attrition with Tito, finishing him late in the fight with strikes.

All those early Pancrease fights with the Shamrock brothers and Bas Rutten were some good oldschool fights. Also I think the turning point from really oldschool somewhat oldschool had to be UFC 15 when everything that had been allowed before was banned but some of the thing legal today were still allowed. The biggest turning point had to be UFC 28 when the Unified Rules were first enforced!
