That said, I do respect your venturing into UFC territory as of late. I like that you're willing to expand. And I can agree with you in certain regards. I've long been against the idea of lining up Junior and Cain for title fights when they should indeed be fighting one another. It's one of my biggest critiques on Dana and the HW division to date.
I used to post alot in the UFC section back in '08.. I began exploring other organizations I liked the undiscovered talent and the fighers that for one reason or another just seemed to destroy everybody and get no recognition they slept in orgs like EliteXC, ROTR, Strikeforce, DREAM and Sengoku...
These guys are poring their blood and sweat in the cages and nobody even knew who the hell they were.. I never hated the UFC, I hated the fact that the uninformed fan would register, log in and say crap like...OMFG "Jake Shields would get brutally raped by the UFCs top 10 WWs" when in all actuality alot of these underground fighters just as skillful if not more so than some of their Zuffa counterparts....
I love seeing an athlete like Rafael Feijao, or Hector Lombard smash 3 different smaller organizations and finally a few years later sign to the UFC if that's what he desires. Because he's earned it.
I watch alot of smaller orgs. I always have... I watch SHINE fights, Shark Fights, always tryed to catch SpirtMC events... I was watching guys like Jarad Hamman fight in tiny shows at Casinos way before they signed with Zuffa...
I just genuinly am a huge fan of MMA. Every org and I have my favorite fighters.. I usually stick up for them and or at times will become outspoken when posters start leaning too hard on ignorant assumptions or just posting out of their ass trying to find whatever reason they can to discredit a smaller show..
That's bullshit to me.. We all know that the UFC is the big dog as far as money, stability and their buisness model is concerned...
But why hold it against smaller shows for trying to give fans what they love to see?? And that is a good MMA fight.
I don't see the Overeem/Rogers situation being as some huge rookie mistake that's it's been made out to be. When you don't have a huge roster of either top notch talent or overhyped talent you have to work with what you've got.
The UFC has done the same thing before. But for some reason, uneducated posters will continue to try to crucify STRIKEFORCE every chance they get with it..
