Exclamation Does a chin really age?

simple question.

no references to excessive punishment, progressive concussion etc.

besides if we look at ali for instance, he took a lot of punishment without going out towards the end of his career.

The more concussions you sustain, the easier it becomes to get more of them. They accumulate over time & you can't recover from it. Which is a bummer...

No. I think boxers only get hit by other guys with pillows on their hands

No I dont think so....The reason you see more true KOs in MMA is because you have no time to recover. And smaller gloves. If you get put down the other guy is right there raining punches. Boxing you have time to get up and recover...

It's the brain shutting down from lesser impact than before due to accumulating damage, there's not some magic mechanism that wears out and causes easy KOs, it's an issue of damage to the brain. In severe cases of PCS a person can experience a concussion just from shaking their head. E.g army vets and car accident survivors.

It's an ugly aspect of any combat sport, and football.

You said no reference to this but not doing so wouldn;t be answering the question properly.
