Fedor/Silva is on
Fedor Emelianenko will make his long-awaited return to the cage when he takes on Antonio Silva to kick off the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament at the upcoming Strikeforce event scheduled for Feb. 28 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, according to Sherdog.com
"The Last Emperor" hasn't seen action since Fabricio Werdum tapped him in the first round with a triangle choke back in June 2010.
There's been confusion regarding the status of the Russian Sambo specialist, mainly due to issues with a long re-negotiation of his contract between his management, M-1 Global and Strikeforce.
It looks like they've finally come to an agreement and it does not involve a rematch with Werdum or an oft-asked for fight with Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem.
Silva was last seen surviving a first round scare to come back and pound out Mike Kyle at Strikeforce: "Henderson vs Babalu" on Dec. 4, 2010.
He boasts an outstanding record of 15-2, with his last loss coming at the hands of the same man to famously end Fedor's run as the best in the world.
Is this good matchmaking? Are you happy with "Bigfoot" getting the next shot against Fedor?
The Feb. 12 card is also rumored to feature another heavyweight tournament bout between former UFC heavyweight champions Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett, depending on the licensing issues currently being worked through by "The Babyface Assassin."

I hoped Fedors next fight would be with Werdum or the Reem, but I guess this will work for now.

Notice how Fedor is hard to deal with in any sort of Reem fight. But then he and M-1 jumps all over a Silva fight. Why? Why is it so easy when it is Silva? Silva was almost finished by not even a top 10 LHW. Silva is ranked in the top 10 at HW, but because there is no one else to really be ranked at the end of it. M-1 and Fedor know this. They are all about the easiest fights possible.
