LMAO @ Gil saying that UFC fighters need to come to SF to fight him. Coker must be supplying crack to all his fighters lately, because other than the HW division SF divisions are weak as f*ck. But that still doesn't stop all the SF fighter from talking unsubstaintiated BS. Shut your f*cking mouths and call DANA ALREADY!

If he really cared about being the best he wouldn't have resigned with strikeforce. I'm a fan of guys like Josh and K.J. but they would be trading wins with the 10-15 guys in the UFC LW division and are probably 2 and 3 in strikeforce.

His inactivity should probably cause him to drop out of the top 5 I had him like top 3 or 4 after he beat Aoki and think he would do well in the UFC but not great. Gray and Frankie are both better than him at everything by a lot he would lose 100 out of 100 times against both of them.

Love Melendez and think he is the 2nd best LW in the world.

But I don't get why you say he has that right? He can say what he wants...but I'd say Edgar's opportunity of knocking off a guy most had in the top 5 P4P list for years is a bigger deal than coming and fighting Melendez.

He can say that all he wants..but Edgar's wins over Penn were some of the biggest wins of all time at LW. You beat a guy that was the hands down king at 155 and I think you earned the right to defend the belt that belonged to the 155 lb king.

The UFC's LW division as a whole is much better than SF's. There are more high level fighters and it is much deeper. There are also a lot of UFC LW's that have a better resume than Melendez's as well in my opinion.

-Always Supporting-
Miesha Tate - Urijah Faber - Dustin Poirier - Frankie Edgar - Claudia Gadelha - Tecia Torres - Demian Maia - Jessica Eye - Diaz Bro's

Agreed. The UFC LW Division is so much deeper and better than Strickeforce, most of them can easily give Melendez a competitive fight. Most guys in the UFC WW Division can easily give Diaz a competitive fight. Simply put I dont think Melendez and Diaz can even make it to the Champions if they came to the UFC and fought. The UFC MW and LHW are also better. The UFC is just a bigger and better level of ballgame. I think the Strikeforce HW Division is better based on talent only. I can confidently say Fedor can probably knock off every UFC HW outside of Velasquez, which could be an excellent fight.

He has the right to make this claim.
Melendez has not beaten enough quality guys to state his claim as #1, #2 or maybe even #3. Compare the last four wins to Edgar, Maynard and Florian.

Melendez - Aoki, Thompson, Ishida, Damm

Edgar - Penn(x2), Veach, Sherk

Maynard - Florian, Nate Diaz, Huerta, Miller

Florian - Gomi, Guida, Stevenson, Huerta.

Can you see the gap? Not to disrespect Thompson, Ishida and Damm but, they aren't on the same level as Penn, Florian and Gomi.
The way he beat Aoki was impressive but, beating one 'top' guy isn't enough to cement yourself at the top. An example, Edgar wasn't considered to be better than BJ until he beat him the second time.

To be honest, these guys need to come fight me
Sorry but when you're making some claims, back them up.

I think he is a great fighter, TOP 10 in the world at LW. The LW division is a bit different, it's harder to rank. It's the most stacked division in the world. And rankings change each month, depending on who fight who.

I see him beating a lot of contenders in the UFc but i can also see him losing to tohers.

But untill all these fighters won't fight, it's pure speculation.

But he is wrong when he's saying that the guys he fought are better or at the same level as the guys in the UFC. They are not.
The level of competition in the UFC is the best.

By saying what he said, it sounded like he wanted to make a statement. Usually, the one who makes it, has to back it up, not the other way arround.

.

BELIEVE!

I agree with him , the same with Fedor why should he HAVE to come the UFC when he has been fighting top comp when some of the guys were pretending to wrestle.

Top competition? Let's have a look at his last few fights shall we
Werdum-Submission loss
Andre Arlovski-ko win
Big Timmy- submission win
Hong man choi-win
Lindland-He fought Lindland seriously?
Hunt-win
Coleman-win
Wagner Martins(exactly, who?)-win
Cro Cop(6 years ago!)
Nogueria(2004)-decision win

There are exactly none guys that he has beaten in the top ten currently. Well, Nog might be scratching it... but barely.

Between Fedors two best conquests, A.A and Timmy, they are a combined 6-4 in their last ten bouts with notable wins over, Vince Lucero, Buentello, Pudz, Jason Riley, Big Country(2008), and Rothwell. And losses to Ray Mercer, Bigfoot, and Rogers
