Hey guys, life long MMA fan here. I've got a quick survey for the fighters/trainers to fill out for my research project. Thanks guys! It will help me a ton!

Done, since injuries happen a lot while training. Any chance to see the results when it's all said and done?

Awesome, thx guys! Yeah, I'll Let you know when the study has been completed. I still have a lot more responses needed. I'm probably going to have to advertise the link (officially) on a few websites. Will be very interesting, no studies like this have been done yet.

You're going to advertise on a few websites? How many websites are you members with? Sounds pretty extensive for a study!

The survey questionnaire could be improved.

First page is too US centered. Health insurance systems are often different in other countries, also most other countries in the world use the metric system, so for the height and weight questions the according metric numbers should be given, too.

The injury pattern page is somewhat confusing. It's easy to miss the injury you're looking for to fill in. Also very common injuries like ACL injury or other ligament injuries are not listed and I guess sprained insteps are more common than sprained ankles, so I would at least list them, too.

Then the connection to the treatment questions are confusing again. If you have multiple injuries, it's hard to recall which you put in what place and you have to scroll up and down all the time.
That's even worse with the next page with the outcome of the injuries. You have to turn the page back and forth to recall which injury had which number.

Maybe you could have some adjustments to questionnaire so it becomes easier and more comfortable to fill in for the participants.

@Kantowrestler - yeah, I'm an Emergency Medicine resident & I'm working with my attending (who's a HW fighter) on this study. He thinks if we get 1000 survey's filled out then we could publish the study in a huge journal like New England Journal, or JAMA, etc which would be awesome, especially since no one else has studied MMA on a large scale.

@Voiceless - thanks for the input, I'll talk with my attending about those concerns and see if we can fix them. Also, expanding beyond the US would be huge, thanks for bringing that up!

Well that all sounds pretty interesting. What is the name of your attending just out of curiosity? And I'm glad someone is trying to put a study together so we have more statistics to put together besides those two deaths that have taken place!
