I love Alistair, he basically just confirmed what everything is talking about.
#1-no, skill to become #1-yes.

rothwell beat nelson and yvel.
kongo beat cro cop.
Gonzaga got cut just like O'brien.
If JDS beats lesnar then you can offer legitimate arguments on both sides whether
brock and nog>>>>brock and werdum or werdum and brock>>>>>>>nog and brock.
It's really gonna come down to who wins outta JDS and Velasquez

Did you see the Rothwell/Nelson fight? Nelson won IMO. And that Crocop who fought Kongo was training out of his basement, the one who fought JDS trained with Bonjasky.
And you forgot Struve too, the only guy he lost to besides Cigano is Nelson, he's like 5-2 in the UFC.

The bar is set really high for Overeem right now. He's got to not only beat Werdum, but walk right through him faster than the last guy that beat him, and the last guy dominated him and knocked him out cold in like 50 seconds.

Dos Santos didnt dominate him hahahahah you are confused with being KO'ed and domination.

Well before Ubereem is ever considered #1 I'd like him to pass a NSAC administered drug test

Have you seen the fight? It wasn't a come from behind knockout or anything. Werdum tried to kick and got checked, he ran up and tried to clinch for a take down and got shucked, he felt a little of JDS' power and backed up, then when he ducked a little for (probably) a TD, JDS put him out.
I'm 100% positive it'd go no other way again. Cigano's standup is way, way too good for Werdum and Werdum doesn't stand a chance taking him down. You're just mad because Werdum > Fedor and JDS > Werdum.

This .
#1 ranked fighters must be UFC champions. No if ands or butts. Beating the likes of old school Fedor and Barnett just don't get you there. Beating former UFC champs won't get you there. At best this tournament will give a couple of guys shots at UFC contracts.

Winning the Grand Prix won't put him in number one but it will put him in the top three. If you think about it he beats Werdum in the first round and probably faces Fedor in the semis and a can in the end just for measure. In his first two matches he would've faced two and three in the world!

i really like the reem, he never seems to slag anyone off and seems genuine. if he wins this tourney i put him right up there in the top 5. i do worry though when he gets hit as ive noticed his legs seem to stiffen for an instant, which is all fedor would need. i think he would knock brock out, but im not sure how he would do against say, cain, santos, carwin or the said fedor. i hope he wins spectacularly cause i like to see him take a run at the ufc belt.
