Give Antonio Silva his due...

I refreshed the page a second ago and there were eight threads about Fedor, ranging in topic from his probable retirement, his age, dropping to LHW, etc., and yet, there wasn't a single thread relating to Antonio Silva's incredible achievement. It's clear that Fedor will go down in history as one of, if not the, best MMA fighters of all time. No other fighter from this point in history onward will win 25+ fights in a row and embody the same mythical status as Fedor.

That being said, while we witnessed the end of an era, we simultaneously became witnesses to the breakthrough of a new MMA star, Antonio Silva. Whether dominating Fedor on the ground with his extensive BJJ prowess or exchanging damaging stand-up blows with a legend, Antonio Silva put on a performance that was at least remarkable, and at most exceptional. A 6-1 underdog, Silva stared arguably the best fighter of all time down and imposed his will on the "last emperor", a feat that no fighter had ever done. While nobody could have predicted the outcome of the fight or the announcement that came afterward, Silva proved that he is capable of dismantling the best that MMA had to offer him, and in the process, proved that he is a serious threat to anyone in the HW division.

I feel like an idiot for not betting on him. He looked amazing out there.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.

He impressed me with his gameplan , all be it he was much bigger which lead to his victory that is part of HW so cant complain and i hope he performs to his best in the next showing as the SF tourney is still going to be great.

Silva could be the dark horse in the Tourny... man i'm still in shock.

Great first post to the thread. Huge Fedor fan, wishing it went to the 3rd... but at the same time that eye looked bad. Silva had a great gameplan.

Werdum already dominated him and Overeem would slaughter him. Like I said before the fight nothing changes with Bigfoot win or lose he still is a good fighter who can't hang with the real elites at HW.

So you are claiming Bigfoot can hang with Cain? Because I'm 100% sure Cain would **** his face off in under a minute.

Like Fedor?

Awesome fight by Silva, great gameplan. I just hope people credit the win to a great HW's progress and not just do the easy thing and blame it on Fedor's apparent "decline".

That would be unfair to Silva

Great display of his skills. I think he's a great fighter and he diffidently gained a fan from me.
