I offhandedly mentioned his throat grabbing in another thread. He did it to Kyle too.

Grasping the throat with your hand is considered an illegal choke, so I don't know why the refs let him do it. Maybe they think he's just resting his hand and not holding the throat? Though that would be stupid.

It's grabbing the trachea that is illegal, rather than grabbing the entire throat. I guess it looks similar from a distance, but the referee should be able to see the difference. Btw Wandy did the same to Jardine while he was GnPing him.

I see your point, though the trachea is in the throat and takes up considerable space where it looked like Bigfoot was holding Fedor.

It looks like it may not matter though. The rules I found on the web for NJ only ban throat strikes, and doesn't mention grabbing at all.

On one of the best of prides I watched the other day, a black kickboxer was submitted by **** choke by a white wrestler but I can't remember either guys name.

The white dude had Gary Goodridge in the ring with him before the match but I'm drawing a blank on who he was.
