Reagan Penn(BJ's younger brother) to Make MMA Debut on ProElite's Return in August
http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/07/1...urn-in-august/
Quote:
Reagan Penn, the younger brother of UFC star BJ Penn, will make his MMA debut on the Aug. 27 ProElite show at Blaisdell Arena in Hawaii, MMA Fighting has learned from sources.
No opponent has been signed to fight Penn, who will compete as a welterweight.
Penn, a highly-decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, has been in his brother's corner for many of his recent UFC fights, however he has never competed in an amateur or pro MMA bout.
Familiar names like Andrei Arlovski and Kendall Grove are expected to compete on the card. This would mark ProElite's first show since Oct. 2008.

This should be interesting, but i doubt he will be anything like his brother. BJ is a one of a kind fighter and the Penn family dont seem to have good genetics for MMA, as in they are not very atheltic or have very good physical attributes. Wheres as if it was Jon Jones younger brother, who comes from a family of amazing athletes and are very physically gifted, i think you would expect him to do well.

So you are pretty much saying that BJ got all the physical gifts? Well we will have to wait and see if that is true or not. Anyways I wonder what broadcast plans are for this fight.

In BJ's book he talks about Reegan basically being one of his primary sparring partners. I think so long as Reegan doesn't suffer from being used to losing he should do fine. Often times in gyms with one superstar the rest of the guys tend to get a little to complacent with getting handled. Reegan has been training alongside BJ since before BJ started fighting.

Jon Jones family may be more athletic, but let's remember Reegan won the Mundials right on his first time around (albeit at a low level belt, but still a feat in itself).
Let's also remember Reegan has been training with BJ since a kid in fighting including regular sparring (on their balcony I think it was, Toxic would know, it's in the book I believe).
Obviously Reegan is not going to be a world beater and a living legend in MMA, but he should be able to handle himself well and interesting at the very least to watch.

Well I don't think there are two members of the same family that ever both become legends. The Nog brothers are a good example cause Rodrigo is the successful brother and Rogerio has been there but never won anything. Same for Fedor and Alek.

Well maybe his parents were fond of Ronald Reagan. What a good president. May he rest in peace.
