Strikeforce: Scott Smith vs Tarec Saffiedine

Saffiedine takes it easily:

Round 1 - Round 1 - A touch of gloves gets us started. Both are light on the feet and pawing quick jabs. Smith lands first with a straight left. They bounce and throw, but little lands. Saffiedine lands a nice punch-low-kick combo. He then works the jab before settling for a low kick and another. Smith clinches and delivers a knee against the cage, but Saffiedine reverses it and works punches while clinched. Smith ties him up, and Saffiedine breaks away with a nice combo of a body punch and head shot. They take the center of the cage, and Saffiedine fires off a low kick. Smith stalks and pushes forward with jabs. They clinch, and Smith catches a head kick. Saffiedine stays upright and looks for a guillotine. He can't get it, and they jockey for position from the clinch. The ref calls for a quick restart. Smith misses with a right. Saffiedine answers with an inside leg kick and has his head kick checked. Smith lands a nice inside leg kick that briefly knocks Saffiedine off balance. Saffiedine works the punch-kick combo again. He then throws a spinning back head kick that narrowly misses. Round 2 - The fighters trade jabs, and Smith lands a nice succession of lefts. Saffiedine lands a quick punch to the jaw and follows with a low kick. After taking a low kick, he then lands a solid head kick and clinches and puts Smith against the cage. He delivers a left before resetting. Smith tries a right and is countered with a couple big blows that buckle him. Saffiedine moves in and clinches against the cage. He backs away and picks away with jabs as Smith somehow remains alert. He tries a flying knee that misses and then clinches again. He hits Smith with forearm strikes and clinches again. Saffiedine lands a knee, and both fighters wing power shots that miss on the break. Saffiedine lands a crushing head kick and pops Smith with followup punches, but Smith dives for a leg to buy recovery time. Saffiedine stands and then drops and tags the kneeling Smith with more punches. He then takes his back for more punches. Smith looks to work his way back to his feet. Saffiedine clings to his back, but he's too high, and Smith backs out and gets to his feet. Saffiedine stalks patiently and then pops Smith a flurry. Smith somehow remains upright. and Saffiedine clinches to deliver a few more punches before the round ends. MMAjunkie.com scores a lopsided round 10-8 for Saffiedine.

Round 3 - The fighters circle and trade, and Saffiedine is clearly the fresher fighter. Smith misses on a low kick and quickly circles to reset. Saffiedine snaps off a low kick. Saffiedine goes high with a kick and that follows with a combo. Smith survives. Saffiedine works low kicks and then sidesteps Smith's advance. The fighters trade jabs that land. Smith throws a low kick. Saffiedine gets through a quick left. Saffiedine lands a combo. Smith continues pressing forward, though. Saffiedine starts to pick apart Smith with straight punches. Smith, though, won't back down and presses forward. Saffiedine lands a nice overhand right. Saffiedine grazes him with a head kick and follows with a counter combo. Smith backs him up with a high kick that misses. Saffiedine fakes a punch to land a low kick. with the crowd cheering, the fighters swing wildly, and Smith crashes into the fencing on an attempt. Smith lands an overhand right and talks, but Saffiedine tags him with a quick right. Smith continues chasing, eats a head kick, and chases with punches and a head kick.
