Cormier talks about Silva, the Grand Prix and his future

Obviously, I had no reservations, sger Cormier. Im a person who thinks things through, and when I weighed out the positives and negatives, there was no reason for me to not take the fight
People are saying that the tournament means nothing because Overeem is out, its the biggest thing in my life. When I first saw the tournament started, I thought it was the greatest collection of heavyweights in one bracket. I still get to fight some of the best heavyweights in the world, and if I string this together, I think it validates me as a mixed martial artist.
regarding his fight with Silva:
Im faster than he is, Im more athletic and a better wrestler, and I think Im a pretty decent mixed martial artist. Ive gotten better to the point that I think Im ready to compete with the best guys in the world. I wont know how far I am in this journey until I do test myself with someone like that.

I think Silva is a big step up for him, but I also think Cormier can potentially tear the division up. I love his style, his striking has really developed, so he uses that primarily and has his great wrestling base to fall back on - the way wrestlers with a knack for striking SHOULD fight.

If he can take out Silva impressively, there are not many HW's I would bet against him with. He is Strikeforce's Cain Velasquez.
