Anyone impressed by Tim Kennedy?
Kennedy landed some nice head kicks on Lawler. Some decent striking, also. That knee to the ribs he landed in the 3rd was brutal & I think he hurt Lawler with that.
Nice takedowns and groundwork. I like that he didn't resort to Jon Fitch style dry humping once he had Lawler on the ground, but took risks in trying to inflict damage.
I think he's a prospect who could compete with guys like Daley and beat them if he continues to improve and round out his game.
WDYT?

Of course. If you are a true fight fan, how could you not be impressed and entertained?

Definitely impressed with his handywork in the cage. His wrestling was great, in particular the double he hit in the 1st round - slick. His striking throughout the whole fight was pretty good, he kept his hands up and varied it up with kicks. That's what you gotta do with a monster like Lawler, he's a dangerous dangerous dude - KOd Melvin Manhoef FFS.
But yes, look forward to see Kennedy get the title shot and rematch Jacare, although I'm afraid we'll see the same result ...

He was more impressive than Woodley but I find it hard to get excited by wrestlers to be honest. Takedowns win fights though, Whether or not damage is done.

I was more impressed with Lawler to be honest. I expected him to get taken down and submitted in the first round. He seems to have learned from the Manhoef fight, his footwork and head movement was great. Of course Kennedy is not a Manhoef caliber striker, but still. His sprawl was good for most of the fight and some of the scrambles were just insane.
I actually thought it was one of Kennedy's weaker performances. He failed to do much damage from top position although he stayed active. His conditioning wasn't on the usual level either. If Lawler had decided to throw some strikes in the last round I believe he could have TKOed Kennedy.

Tyron Woodley is a wrestler and Tim Kennedy is a man-beast, theres a difference. He's a brawler with clear stand up ability, incredible levels of cardio, and aggressive-keep coming forward-drag em' down to the ground type of wrestling. He's more than just a wrestler, man, hes exciting to watch.
Would LOVE to see Stann vs Kennedy

Was very impressed with Kennedy but I saw some acne and bacne on him which suggests to me that he has taken steroids in the past. Course I could be talking crap, but I think I saw that on him.

He is a good fighter but saying Fitch does nothing but dry hump is a far cry from the truth. Fitch is one of the more active fighters once it hits the ground, he is more active then Sonnen and yet he gets hated while Sonnen is the best thing since sliced bread, I don't understand it.
Who else can totally demoralize BJ Penn on the ground besides Fitch and GSP?
